Whole foods?

I know it is a shock to us sugar eaters, adjust slowly, but you will have to change or end up on meds. Whats important is your levels 2 hour after eating, so an hour after try to so some exercise, walk the dog to burn that excess glucose. Try fruit and vanilla in our oatmeal.

I normally don't put chocolate chips in but i did for some reason but i stilleat lots of sugar so gotta stop. And hmm, i didnt realize that. I will exercise after then and try the fruit, thanks

Simple carbs are all carbs like grains, wheat, rice, white flour and products made with white flour, chips, sugar cookies, cake, ice cream....you get the picture. Fruit juice and soda of course are big no no's. Eat whole fruit, any veggies, lots of protein. I'm supposed to be on salad only diet right now, but thats impossible so I went on insulin. Stick to brown rice, whole wheat. I make my own chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies using the mix of half sugar half splenda. If you eat cake or ice cream, eat full fat, small portions. fat free products are a no no because they put more sugar in them to make them taste good. Roasted nuts instead of chips, sugarless candy. Most important is to follow portion control.

Thanks for all the advice! That makes sense. Fruit juice huh? I recently bought some but i wont drink it. I thought it was a little weird cause who eats like 3 apples, 30 or 40 grapes, strawberries, bananas, carrots, etc all at once? Nobody.

I need to eat more veggies and protein. Been eating too many carbs lately

And portion control is huge for me, i eat way too much aha

Don't we all. If you put too much carbs in then your pancreas has to release huge amounts of insulin to counter it. Basically diabetics burn out their pancreas so it doesn't create enough insulin or none at all. I was a hugh OJ drinker, never too big on soda, if you drink it dilute it half an half. I only drink V8 now because it is low on glycemic scale. Ask me any questions you have when they come up.

Wow, I had no idea. That makes so much more sense and sounds scary so I def want to avoid it. I never liked OJ much thankfully but i just bought some V8 but its the fruit and veggie ones and thanks, i will :)

Just check the portion control for the total carb count, it's probably pretty small amount.

How's the healthy eating going? I just bought steel cut oatmeal and discovered that I like it much better than regular oatmeal. It's got a nice chewy texture. I also bought lentils. Never had them before, but they sound healthy so thought I'd give them a try. I'm working a late shift now and finding that I really really want to snack when I get home. I'm not actually hungry, just feel like snacking. I've been trying to have a cup of tea instead of a snack, but it doesn't always work. I know eating snacks right before bed isn't a good idea!

Terribly :(

Yesterday I had not one but TWO Subway subs. Of course, one is right next to my school and I was late for class, and then the other was in Walmart and I was hungry and needed dinner before shopping lol

Then today we went to pick my brother up from the airport and I hadn't eaten yet so I went and there was a Dunkin Donuts next to it so I went and got myself a blueberry muffin and, yes, a strawberry frosted donut. I split the muffin with my dad but still ate most of it. Then after we got him a while later, we went to Five Guys and I got a burger. Although I got the little cheeseburger aka one patty instead of two but still. Got ketchup and mayo. And we split a large fries between 4 of us. And got a Coke.

Theeeeennnnnnn..... for dinner we got pizza. Just ate it.

And I went to Walmart again and snuck a Reese's and Gatorade before dinner.

The past 2 days have been really bad lol

But I was pretty healthy before the last 2 days lol

Gotta get back on track

It's especially hard if you have people visiting you, you want to socialize with food! But hey, tomorrow is a new day and we can start over. Actually I guess today is a new day.

I liked the suggestion Little Fuzzy posted about eating something salty or spicy to combat sugar cravings. I bought a bag of jalapeño pieces, they are kinda like French fried onions. Not super healthy but too much heat for me to eat more than a few! I'm going to see if it works to keep me from nibbling on candy.
