We bought six easter egg chicks in april that were supposed to be all pullets, however we are pretty sure that one is not. One was killed by a dog so we are down to five soon to be four as we already have the rooster we want. Before I process it for meat is this a Rooster?

We also think we have two other chickens that were supposed to be hens according to the girl at Rural King that appear to be roosters.

All help is appreciated in trying to figure it out.

Can get pics tomorrow I thought I had them at work but I don't.

It is my intention to get pics up, I guess life never gets in the way of you doing things you intend to do, (which is cool that your life runs so seemlessly) we should all be so lucky. They will be up tomorrow late morning as I have been at a firehouse for the last 48 hours.

ee's from what i gather are hard to tell when younger. Their combs are tricky~

When you upload pics, we probally could tell. Don't process it yet~

I got 4 EE's from the feed store, sexed as pullets by Privett Hatchery. They were 3 or 4 weeks old when I got them, and within a few days I could tell one was definitely a cockerel. His comb was much larger and redder than the girls' combs already. Now they're around 8 or 9 weeks, and he's getting sickle feathers in his tail.

Yours should be pretty obviously one or the other, but sometimes they can be tricky. Can't wait to see your pics!

Hatcheries only claim 90% accuracy with sexing their birds. So it is very possible that you got a male by mistake.

My point was why people post questions that require pics for an answer but do not post the pics. Why post the text instead of just waiting until the pics are available? It wastes people's time and cuts down on your getting responses.
