Who's Going to the TN Valley Fair Sept 5-14?

I'm thinking of going by this evening... Laura is all dithering about wanting to go over to Nashville tomorrow - major ugh!

I will be at the show itself Monday to take pictures! I so cannot wait.

That bator I bought still isn't here - how long would you wait to get something shipped to you before you made them refund your money?

Hugs to you all.

My bro-in-law's father passed away. So I guess I'm not going to the fair tomorrow, I'm going to a funeral instead. It's a 3-hour drive each way. This is the 2nd family member he's lost this summer, so his mom is having a really hard time right now.

Maybe we'll get to the fair Sunday and see everything. Just don't know. I really want to see ALL the exhibits, including the quilting and produce and such.

I'll go to the fair Monday after work and see who has ribbons on their cages. I'll take some pictures, too.

There weren't many birds there yet last nght, but more were arriving as we left. The guys that work there are real characters!! I got some pictures of my boys in their cages, but was too tired to photobucket them last night.

Walkswithdog, when did you actually place the order? Most places say give them 5-7 business days. But depending on where the company is and what the weather there is like, it may take longer. Have you called the company for an ETA?

The incubator was private party and I've confirmed it was shipped, I think. But I'm sick with waiting, when I've got people set up to send me eggs. Sigh. Patience.

If it doesn't come today, I'm getting a refund and buying from a real store. Guess we'll see.

Still, can't wait to get to the fair or fairs. Either way I get to see all the neato fair stuff. And I've the camera all set up to take pictures!!! Yay.

So basically, the private party says it was shipped but you have no tracking #, right?
Been there, done that. It did arrive but took far longer than I had the patience for waiting.
When you get it, be sure to give it a good cleaning with a little bleach in the water.

Pretend waiting on the bator is just practice for actually incubating. Because it takes even longer for them to hatch with even more stress.
And you know just as little about when the hatchlings will arrive, if they arrive at all.

That said, I love hatching, it was worth waiting for the bator, and I'm trying to decide if I should hatch another set before fall REALLY sets in

Well, there is a tracking number from USPS but it may or may not be ( color me really skeptical) for my package, and so far it's already 8 days out of sync. mentions pick up and nothing else. Sigh. I guess it is a bit like hatching.

I needed a bright side to all this waiting. I plan on cleaning it up well when it gets here. Not good to trust someone else's "clean". If it gets here.

I suppose now is the time to get over the "I want it nows" isn't it?

Either way by next week I'll have a bator and be getting in eggs.

Focus on the positive.

Have faith! I am also waiting impatiently for some UPS deliveries. I hate waiting!

I will definitely be in Knoxville tomorrow, so I'll be going down to the fair. If anyone wants to say hi, look for the large woman in tie-dye!

Had an egg shipment with tracking # that only showed the day of departure. It was supposed to be delivered 8/6, actually arrived 8/16. The PO wouldn't do a search until it was 2 weeks past it's delivery date.

If you break down and go buy one, then you'll have a hatcher AND a bator for those staggered hatches. (I'm an enabler, can you tell

)

So, if you get eggs next week, then you'll be pacing the floor until October waiting for those hatchlings, right?

Are you getting shipped eggs or local ones? What kinds?

Glad the boys are all settled at the fair. Too funny about the little Millies trying to jump back in your arms...."MAMA!"

Poor Jack has had a rough summer. And I can't even say "I wouldn't miss the 1st weekend of the fair for just anyone" to him. No needs to bear that much guilt

I am sooooo bummed about missing tomorrow, I've planned on it for a MONTH. And no one will be around to see my shirt

Not only did the milie boys want to stay with me, but I wanted them too! It was actually Tennessee that wanted mama, Sunny was just following. And I may take Tennessee home after all. They are both pretty, but he is also sweet and friendly. I find I'm more attached than I realized and don't want to put a price tag on him
DH is not happy about my desire to bring some babies home.
He's also unhappy because I didn't put a price tag on ANY of them yet....

I'll try to post pics tonight, in between packing, rearranging chick housing, and such.
