Congrats to all and Happy Easter. I woke up to 3 chicks in the incubator and 1 died in the shell. Part of life. Waiting for the other 18 to hatch. 18 to go, 7 hatched, 1 deceased, not to bad so far. I think I had an incubator overload and I do not think it was good. Live and learn, shame on me if they do not hatch.
I had a tragic thing happen my beloved bunny *Mary Anne* passed away she became ill suddenly.
I found her this afternoon bleeding from her private's and had to put her down.
I'm beside myself with grief at losing her
I don't know if my Call Ducks will hatch or not they could be late due to some low temps
I will check in soon as i know one way or the other
oegblady - give them time until they start to smell. I have had them hatch up to 35 days (that was one that I did not notice had not hatch). Then to my surprise, I was wondering why I had a duck and none due yet, there it was.
think positive about your hatch! Sometimes they are a little slow.
I had two separate batches of quail (i know, not ducks, but birds and hatching similarities) that I put in the bator 10 days apart....then I got em mixed up a bit. I had one batch in cartons, the other not, and the bator got bumped (i am VERY clumsy)...a couple fell out. I thought I had thr correct ones...NOPE!
I leave em till they smell anyhow...but six full days after the hatch, I had a couple extra quail running around my bator!!! They werent due for another 7 or so days! ...I cant imagine quail being seven days early since they only incubate for 15 ish!
Keep em till they stink...then you will KNOW without a doubt that you didn't toss em too early...one less reason to kick yourself!
