We had 2 baby rouens hatch one yellow one yellow in blk. The yellow one did not make it she came out the side of the egg attached to her yolk we left her in bator removed the other one to keep him from steping on her yesterday evening she kicked the yolk and she started to bleed we took her out and i had to take out the other eggs and run bator upstairs to tub and rince out there was blood in the water tray. We put her bk and this morning she had died

Hubby was upset as he tried hard to keep her alive but she had lost to much blood poor little baby. We have 6 more rouen eggs in the bator due in the morn. I am picking up 6 rouen babies today I had ordered way bk before i got the bator. I will have to keep them seperate for 30 days. We also are picking up pheasants and muscovey ducks. I hope the other eggs in bator hatch my poor little Squishy duck is lonely.

Does anyone know how long from peep to pip in goose eggs? My eggs were peeping and knocking last night, but this morning they are much quieter. I am hoping they are ok.

I have 4 silky ducks due to hatch Thursday. (Yesterday, number 5 quit, when I opened the shell for curiosity sake, it was so beautiful.)
I put them in a carton bottom, cranked up the humidity, put the temp at 98.5, put a wet washcloth in, and vowed to leave them alone until Friday. I don't want my curiosity to be their casualty. I can't hardly STAND it though. I look in the window every time I walk by. (ostensible to check the humidity, but we really all know why. I'm looking for rocking, pipping, etc.)
My 5 eggs from Freestep got beat up in shipping. My hubby saw the Postman chuck the box up onto the porch. ARGh!

Any advice? tips? wisdom about silkies?

Also, I've inquired about imprinting. Some say ducks imprint strongly, others say if there are multiples, they'll imprint on each other. I just want them to be super friendly, I don't need them to love me like their own.

I'll keep everyone posted, with pictures, if/when they come!
