Ok, I tried the carton hatching method - moved them back to laying on their sides on the floor of the hatcher.
I had one pipped today - that I didn't know was pipped, cause it was pipping otu the side towards the pointy end (bottom) and then I check the three eggs that were supposed tohatch two days ago, and sure enough, one had pipped the same way and it got stuck and died
My white call duck eggs from DuckyBoys are up on deck next, so I put those on the floor on their sides. The one that had pipped wrong I put on it's side and helped it slightly, and it is out now, and looking good.
It's another black one like Sloopy.
I am reasonably sure that both Sloopy and Spiffy are boys, and Squishy is a girl (woohoo!! I needed another blue female to replace her mama). Spiffy is gorgeous, so I'm keeping him/her no matter what. Sloopy we'll have to see - I have another black baby that I think is a girl that I had bought. The one just hatched is a black, too - so maybe I'll have a pair of blacks out of the three of them.
I wish I had another silver to match up with Spiffy. But maybe I can match Spiffy up with the blacks and get blue again.
I'll keep ya informed on the white call duck eggs - I been busy with company from out of state, (got more coming next week) so I haven't been online much lately.
Oh, here's a Q for all of you with call ducks....
Spiffy is rather flat bodied, so sometimes gets flipped on his/her back and can't get uprighted. His wings aren't that big yet, and his legs and neck are short, of course, so he gets stuck. None of the other babies do this, just Spiff. Is this normal or is he just shaped weird?
I've had to put him upright three times now - not on the same days.
