Day 23 here on my six silky duck eggs, all looks good, just did my last candling and I had movement on all six! Just now when I looked in I saw two of the eggs rocking...this is so exciting. I plan on leaving the bator shut now, no more turning. I just wish I knew exactly when silky bantams hatched! I'll keep you updated, keep your fingers crossed for me!

Did you mist your eggs if so how often and at what stage in incubating did you start?

Okay Me being new to hatching ducks i'm confused on the stopping the turner thing.
Okay so Duck eggs in general hatch in 28 days and you stop turning day 25.
I have Call Duck Eggs and i read they may hatch at 23 to 24th day and then again i read 26 or 27th day.

So which is right if they hatch at 24 days then i would stop the turner on day 21?
If they hatch on day 26 or 27 then i would stop the turner on day 23 or 24?

I'm really confused about this

you stop turning 3 days before hatch due date, I'm in the same boat as you as I'm not sure when my duckies are due, I decided to candle and stop turning on day23. I didn't mist my duck eggs, I've read that some do and some don't so I randomly chose not to, so far alls well but now I have to see if the little ones can hatch! so nervous!

I think when I am done with this batch of eggs, I am going to find one of those cheap little write-on/wipe-off boards with a pen and tape it to the outside of the brooder. Then maybe I will remember to write down when I set the freaking eggs!!!!

At this point, I can't see much movement (think I saw a little in one), the egg is completely dark and the air cell looks huge. These things should be popping at any time.

I just write on my calendar in my kitchen, I'm shocked at how often I look at it, just to see how far along Iam, then forget all over again what day it was that I set them!

Ya know what? I still forget to write it down part of the time

Thankfully, I write the date collected on each egg, so I can figure it out usually to within a day or two of when I actually set them. That is my best way of figuring it out - the date I write on the egg. I just take the last date of the bunch I set all at the same time - and figure the next day is day 1. I figure I'd rather stop turning a day early than a day or two late.

Well..........I have been very bad. I've been on Ebay and the swap and buy/sell/trade thread here and guess what?

I have so many eggs in my incubators I'm a little embarassed. My family thinks I'm nuts. And ya know what - I have 15 runner eggs that were just mailed out yesterday and 4 lavender goose eggs too. My goose bator has 21 eggs (pilgrim, buff, lavender, embden) in it and I still have to put the next four in! My duck bator only has like 14, so those 15 should fit fine.

I'm a hatchin' fool.

My 3 buff geese, 1 embden, and so far 2 lavenders are developing - I have 10 runners doing very well, and I just stuck in 8 call ducks...waiting to see them develope.

Now - I just need to get those 40 chicks out of my barn brooder so these guys will fit!

I hatch chicken eggs mostly and i write on my calender when i set them.
Then i calculate when i will candle and when to stop turning and the actual hatch and mark those date's.
Then i write down on the days i candle how many were good and subtract from what i set and write that number down.
I candled today and i have 40 chicken eggs still good and all 5 Call Duck eggs are good.

Thats why i'm so confused about the stop turning date on the duck eggs

I'm removing my chicken eggs to a hatcher on day 18

BTW i'm not misting or spritzing don't want to ruin my chicken eggs

I'm going to a swap meet tomorrow and i'm just buying pigeons "Oh God help me if they have call ducks"
