Who's Hatching Ducks? Hatch With Us!! *Page 3*

sit on those hands, take another walk, read all the posts that are SO much more funny with the word e g g replaced by rooster (I particularly like the one about the chicken who laid a soft shell rooster and now all the hens are eating roosters)

Keep us posted!

I have one pipped last night around 6pm and nothing now...no movement, no nothing. The other 5 have not pipped at all yet.

Don't panic, I read a fascinating article on hatching duck e g g s, I wish I saved the link. It said the usual progression was that the duckling would internally pip, then eventually externally pip, then the duckling rests for about 12-36 hours before zipping. I noticed most of my eggs took two day from pip to out. Also, my ducks didn't 'zip' like all my chickens have, they basically took off the whole top of the shell and then eventually kind of shimmied out of the opening. all my e g g shells were one big piece and then a bunch of tiny pieces (as opposed to my chick hatchings where I got two halves of e g g per chick. Hope this helps!

Oh, and I also noticed that at least my ducks hatched much more quietly and with less rocking. I don't know if that is the norm, but I rarely heard them peeping and the e g g s didn't rock and roll like when the chicks hatched.

We have had a ton of rain this week and i told someone my back yard is now a pond.
Well we have this one place that fills with water about ankle deep.
I thought that looks just like a little pond so i got a good idea.

Here's our duck's we got from TSC takeing there first swim.
They love all the little grass bits and just had a wonderful time

Well I did not think I was hatching ducks yet, but I saw something out on the little island and when I went out there this is what I found:

So I am now hatching some ducks and 1 goose egg and no I do not have geese, so I am assuming 1 of the Canadian that stop by now and then left it yesterday, or the day before.

I dont think my ducks are going to hatch. The one that pipped 36 hours ago looks to have some sort of ooze seeping out of the pip now, and the others have not pipped.
