SO we have 9 chicks so far. We lost 5 that never piped at the end. The ducks i saw moving last nite the eggs were rolling this afternoon we saw one with a grey ring and it was leaking :O We pulled it out and it cracked a small crack the duck had broken yolk egg was full of liquid he was drowning we opened him up he was to far gone. No others hove done anything was the humidity to high if so how did chicks hatch ? They all are in the hova bator together. There is 11 more rouen eggs in there with chickens. This is my first time hatching anything. I have 165 eggs to go in the bator this week I am thinking of using the hova bator for just the ducks any advice as far as temp and humidity would be great before i try these ducks again.

Thanks everyone good luck

I have so far 11 baby ducks out, and one more on its way. There are at least 3 others that have pips, from what I can tell. I took the hatched babies out, they were not drying at all, and they kept hitting the heat elements.

One of them has some of its guts on the outside, will this go back in, or am I doomed to lose this one? I didn't help any of them hatch, so it must be because the humidity is so high from all the hatching action. It was about 85% last time I checked.

I have hatched ducks before, but never this many!! They are all early, they weren't due till Monday!!

We lost a duck

Our khaki cambells come off the turner on monday night. I have a question Is the humidity the same as chicken eggs? I try to keep mine at 55-65%. Can i hatch with chicken eggs?

When we're hatching ducks, we use 86-90 degrees wet bulb/58-63% RH for hygrometer....we try to keep it on the higher side. I've never hatched chickens and ducks in the same hatcher, but have incubated them together.

I JUST hatched a baby on the 28th, 5 days old already!

I've got mallard, runner, and pekin eggs in the bator that are day 13, along with some chicken eggs, the ducks are due to hatch the 16th and 18th.

and I've got our two cochins, one sitting on 7 mallard eggs, the other sitting on 4 pekin eggs and two runner eggs, both nests are on day ONE!

and and and and I've got Rosilee on her nest, so I should have baby muscovies on the next week or so,

AND! Tal and Stencil are sharing a nest of 6 of Tals eggs, they've been sitting for a few days.

so yeah, LOTS of duckies comin!

All the wild Mallards eggs that I took after the mother was killed hatched yesterday and the night before. There are all doing well and running around in the brooder. I wanted to thank everyone who told me what to do when i needed to chill out and just wait.

Thank you,
I will sent picture if I figure it out
