Who's Incubating in Nov. 2011 ?

I can't wait to see your pics !

Are Jersey Giant chickies huge ?

Also, would love to see your Wheaten Marans chickies (what do your parents look like ? We have a copper blue splash roo, is that the same as wheaten or is that blue wheaten ? I can never get each breed's color correct !)

If you can do chickie videos, that would be even better !

That's my lastest fascination......chicken videos, instead of pics !

Just put 12 eggs in the hovabator and this our first try. We have a mix of Americauna's and bard rocks.
unfortunately my sex link chicken went into moult just as we started collecting eggs....maybe next hatch
we can set some of her eggs. We should hatch on Dec 6th.... wish me luck !

I guess the incubator has it's own thermometer then ? or Thermostat ?

Good luck with you hatch !

Anxiously awaiting your pics !

Dec. 1st seems like so long away !!

Hope you can take some chickie videos. I'm curious if different chickie breeds sound different than other chickies ?

Wow !! 93% and 95% respectively. Very cool ! What temp. did you use ? Automatic egg turners (I'm sure). (did I ask you this already ?)

We're planning our chicken barn and was thinking about building a small insulated closet area for the incubator and newly hatched chickies and maybe 1 week old chickies. Somewhere where that area has stable temp. and no fluctuations between day and night, or cold fronts passing through.

With hatch rates like that (much better than the expected 75%), your "secrets" are highly valued !

Do you care to share ?

Aw, I really like the side view pics, where you can see their eyes. They are so precious.

Do you make videos ? I bet there is a lot of chickie cheeping going on ! I love how they sound. I remember the workers at the feed store get tired of hearing the chickies crying all the time. I thought it was nice. But I guess it's different if you hear it 8 hours all day long.

Can't wait to see pics of your Birchen Marans !! Do you have pics of the parents ? Is that a B&W color pattern ?

Lemon cuckoo sound nice too....is that a yellow chicken ?

See how many new breeds I'm going to learn about when you post your pics ?

Even better would be some chicken videos !!!

If you haven't noticed....I've been video crazed since posting them on our website. They are so much fun ! But I need a better video capturing electronic device (hopefully a new, better phone).

Let us know how it turns out !! I try and keep track of everyone who's hatching, but really, my mind doesn't let me. So, maybe you can just post and keep us aware about your hatching.

Do you want to take some chickie videos when they hatch ?

I find them much more entertaining than just pics.

I can't wait for our chickie to hatch next week. I'll definitely be making a video !!

I remember you ! In Australia, by the mountains (I forget the name - Fliers something ?)

I wonder which will hatch better - the incubator or the broody hen ?

That will be almost 2 dozen chickies ! Not too bad. I remember raising only 6 chickies when we first started and it didn't seem like very many. Then with our hatching this year, I remember it gets harder to keep track of all of them when there are 10 or so. That's the "limit" I like to keep in each bin before moving them to the next bin. I like to sort them based on size and feather growth.

Your temperatures....is that in Celsius or Fahrenheit ? I know you are opposite seasons so it's summer there ? I'm thinking that is Celsius, so very hot ?!

Hmmm......day 18 sounds early ? Compared to day 21 ? We used to have them hatch just a day or two early, at a temp. of 102 degrees Fahrenheit on the top of the eggs, but with a chinsy thermometer.

Very curious.....what temp. are you incubating at ?

Thanks,

yup thats me, the flinders is near where i live. Will be interesting to see what gives the better hatch, i dont know how old the eggs were before she sat on them, but no more than a week, and it has been warm in the day. We have 6 hens at the moment, so it will be a big change!! dont think i will be incubating anymore for while! IM thinking the incubator ones i will put with the silkies, and the hen ones i will leave with the hens and see how they go. will be nice to have some cuddly chicks, hopefully there isnt too many roosters!

The temp was in celcius, accourding to google 41 is about 105.8, but its not uncommon for it to get to 44-45 degrees (about 113). Hot dry dusty strong wind will come tomorrow, think im glad i will be inside at work!
