Who's incubating?!?

well that’s exciting lol I’ve always wanted to incubate my chickens own eggs but I have never had the chance lol it’s a nice feeling to know you raised them from chicks and then they have kids of their own lol
Its very exciting. Just a couple days ago we candled for the first time at 9 days. I was so exciting to see the embryo moving around

Don't lose hope, maybe someone local will have one for you. I have purchased 25 shipped eggs total and only 2 hatched. It seems that shipped eggs are really hard to hatch out. My two just hatched Sunday and Monday. I have one more that I am hoping will hatch but there is not a whole lot of movement. This is my first incubator hatch that had success, but only my second time trying.

Dang it I just read you most recent post! I am so sorry! :he

That's ok, I guess it's good in a way because now there won't be a chick being raised alone? Sorry you didn't have much better luck. The breeder said if none hatched then she would send more for just the price of shipping, but I don't know if I want to deal with that or just be patient and buy locally in the spring.

It is definitely a crap shoot. I am happy that I got two out of the 25 total eggs I had shipped in. I also had one of my own stock die after it hatched at the wrong end of the egg and still have three in the bator that are not looking promising. So right now I have 4 out of 19 that I started with.

I have only tried one batch of shipped eggs. I bought them off ebay from a guy only one state away, I paid for 12 he shipped 17, 5 didn't go so I went into lockdown with 12 hatched 10 and had one die so all in all very good. Oh these were german bielefelder

Wow! That's pretty good! I live in Idaho and bought Coronation Sussex eggs from ebay that shipped from Illinois. Not so good on the turn out but I am happy with the two Coro's that I have. Heck in the end they cost $42.50 each, lol.

I didn't want to think about the cost per each lol
They hatched in august I have 3 roos and 5 hens ( one of the hens went to a pet home because she didn't have good auto-sexing down color) I hope to hatch their babies this spring

That is good! I've read that it may be the altitude/air pressure changes on flights that really messes them up, so if they're coming from close enough to avoid planes then maybe they've got better odds. Unfortunately mine came from halfway across the country :(

Pretty sure my hatch is finished. 10 little ones. A few humidity issues this time around, so there were some dead in shell due to shrink wrapping.
