Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

Hi,
I will be setting eggs this Friday. I have 6 miniature white bearded silkie eggs, 6 mixed polish eggs and 6 lemon pekin eggs, all arrived today from Ebay sellers.

I hope to join you all. This will be my 4 hatch this year. My husband would kill me if I was hatching them for me or even if I had to brood them but they are for someone else. I will get a few when they are ready to go into the coop but not until then.

I also have a broody who is sitting on one egg. I don't know if is fertile but I will candle it when I get the other eggs. If it is fertile I'll leave her with the one but if it isn't I'll give her different eggs. We have roosters that are 4 months old or so but most of their activity is around the pullets not the older hens. They all free range together so you never know.

My Silkies are "out for delivery"...yippee. Should be delivered any minute now. They are from an eBay seller.

I don't want to have a staggered hatch.

Would it be fine to leave these for 24 hrs and if the SG come tomorrow, maybe leave them for only 6-12 before incubating? That way I could put them in lock down together.

I am expecting silkie eggs on Sat. I will let them settle for 24 hrs then set them in the bator to hatch. I have failed in my last 2 hatches had only 2 chicks hatch and one of those did not make it so fingers and toes crossed. I have a new bator i have given up on the little giant and bought something better so i am praying this time will be different so far the new bator is holding temp steady at 99.5 so patiently waiting for those eggs.

Got my last egg this morning

Just put 12 eggs in the bator. 6 Oliver eggers, 2 Leghorn crosses, and 4 Cochins. Now starts the long three day wait for the first candling.

My eggs got here they were all crushed.

My box looked like an accordion. I'm so mad. I called the post office and they said "well, was it insured?" ummm, no you can't insure eggs/

I made a huge deal about it and I threatened to get a lawyer of they don't getter fully reimbursed. The woman took me seriously enough that I'm pretty sure I'll get my money back.

I'm soooo angry. I doubt the few that survived will grow...so I've got $70 worth of eggs down the drain right now

I am setting 42 eggs tomorrow August 10, according to the moon phases, it should be the best day to set, and the best to hatch (Aug 31), my last batch was a disaster, let's seewhat happens now...

I am so sorry. I've had that happen also. It is so disheartening. Will the seller send you some more?
