Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

Today was day 21, they will be officially late tomorrow.
I'm terrified to crack the shell, but if there's no improvement by morning, I don't see what choice I have......
Any suggestions for self pipping a shell?

I had to help one once.

It had already cracked the egg though.

Sterile tweezers, q-tips, thermometer, cup of warm water and bathroom...

I turned on the shower in the bathroom for humidity. I slowly chipped tiny (and I mean tiny) pieces of the shell off (only in the air sac area). Used the q-tips dipped in the warm water (regulated with thermometer) to keep membrane moist.

When I was able to see inside, she was shrink wrapped. I ended up moistening and breaking the membrane. Kept the baby moist until she finished herself. I didn't want to remove all of the shell or membrane in case she hadn't absorbed the yolk yet.

Longggg and slow process. I took breaks to give the chick some rest and a chance to try on its own.

Not sure if this will work for you. But may give you some ideas.

If you see ANY blood stop.

Her she is now (3 1/2 months old)

First for me.

The temp is regulated and so was the humidity for the first 3days of lock down. But the humidity is slow started creeping up this evening and I have not add any water. No pips or anything yet. So not sure why it would all of the sudden rise.

Maintaining 50% humidity in the room.

First photo shoot :)

Although there are seven photos, there are only 5 chicks, some are duplicates. Enjoy!

A great shot of the splash back. Last chick to hatch. Afternoon day 21.

Little cutie w/ a big head. This one was second to hatch. 11 pm day 20.

Same chick as above. This chick couldn't hold up it's neck for hours! I was really worried.

Lucky egg number 13. My husband unpacked the box for me while I was at work and didn't realize there were 13. When I got home we decided to do a thorough look through the box and found our extra little egg!

Same chick as above. Was first to hatch on day 20 at around 8 pm.

Third chick to hatch. Hatched sometime around 4 am day 21.

4th chick to hatch. This one hatched early morning of day 21.

Still no pipping from the Eng Orp egg. I think I'm going to try to pip it once my husband leaves for work. There's a SLW starting to zip, hasn't made much progress from last night though.

This is depressing.

The Orp egg is still tapping and chirping....but I tried a bunch of ways and just can't pip the egg :(

I don't want him to die in there....but I don't know what to do. There's no external pip and the shell is hard...I tried tweezers, surgical scissors, a knife, a needle, trying to drill a little hole that I could work on.

This sucks.

I paid $75 and all I'm getting out of it is the [extra] brahma egg. Grrrrr.

the chicks will cause the rise in humidity. Has any hatched yet? after my chicks hatch (when they were hatching...been having bad hatches lately)...but I have notice the humidity go up too. so I did a little research and found that it is normal for it to go up. I just opened a vent plug to bring it back down some.

there is a really good thread here that explains step by step how to help out the hatching. I think there is even a sticky on it. I used the cuticle trimmers from my nail kit the funky one that is a V shaped blade.
