Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

First photo shoot :)

Although there are seven photos, there are only 5 chicks, some are duplicates.  Enjoy!

A great shot of the splash back.  Last chick to hatch.  Afternoon day 21.

Little cutie w/ a big head.  This one was second to hatch. 11 pm day 20.

Same chick as above.  This chick couldn't hold up it's neck for hours!  I was really worried.

Lucky egg number 13.  My husband unpacked the box for me while I was at work and didn't realize there were 13.  When I got home we decided to do a thorough look through the box and found our extra little egg!

Same chick as above.  Was first to hatch on day 20 at around 8 pm.

Third chick to hatch.  Hatched sometime around 4 am day 21.

4th chick to hatch.  This one hatched early morning of day 21.

How Sweet!! Love that you found that last egg!

That is a real bummer. So sorry! Now your one little guy needs a friend Know anyone to get a chick his age from? They dont do well alone.Need others for warmth and companionship.might tryCraigs or Ebay Classified.Putting a add up is free on both
I had one all alone for 2 days before i had more and now at 3 weeks he still thinks im his Mom!!!

I was hatching the Brahmas for a friend, who wanted some purebred Brahams, and she has a barnyard mix broody that hatched chicks the same day. We are taking this chick to her this afternoon.

there is a really good thread here that explains step by step how to help out the hatching. I think there is even a sticky on it. I used the cuticle trimmers from my nail kit the funky one that is a V shaped blade.

Thanks.
I managed to work a little hole, I'm pretty sure he's shrink wrapped [though not 100% because I've never had any experience with it]... His inner membrane looks like it's pretty tight around him.

Ugh.

This hatch has just been a disaster from start to finish, I suppose.

I wrapped the egg in a damp papertowel and put it back in the incubator. Chick still seems to be breathing, but I'm not sure he'll make it.

My poor lonely brahma :( There is nobody near me with chicks right now that I can find....I put him in with my 4 week old cochin [and the cochin just looked at me like "what the heck do you want me to do with this?"] but he's still being ridiculously noisy....I feel bad, but on the other hand, I can hear him chirping across the house..

Hopefully that little SLW finishes hatching soon!

Here are the first few babies hatched overnight. There may be more to come but no more were pipping when I left home this morning. Day 21 today!

There are 2 Lemon Pekins and 4 mixed Polish hatched so far,

Get um out of there well!

OMG!

So, HOORAY!

I got brave and took my Orp out to crack some more shell for her and found that the reason she hasn't made any progress is because she was upside down! She is internally pipped and now she's externally pipped too and chirping up a storm in the bator!

I'm going to let her set and work [right side up this time] and if she hasn't made any progress in a couple hours, I'll start working at some more of the shell.

I didn't want to do too much at one time, I would prefer she hatch herself, but if it comes down to me helping/her dying, I'll help some more.

Oh, what a relief! I guess the brahma rolled her and I didn't notice it!

Next batch will all face up one way when we lock down!

Thats funny about the cochin made me laugh...
Good now he can breath...Hes safe. I think i would peel a little more shell away in a while if no progress see if he can do it then They say STOP if you see any blood. The learning center has a whole thing on doing it. if you havent looked at it before. You probably have
Well you know all this yourself you have been in with me in other hatches...
If that membrane cant loosen up you may have to peel off most of the shell in the end and let him just come out of the membrane if he can.My last assist that membrane was so dry by the time i got him out it was pulled away from the shell all over and looked like parchment He had been pipped for over 24 hours by the time he got out.I had to pull away most of the membrane too which iwasnt happy about but overnight in just the membrane, he STILL didnt get out!

So you have this one SLW and this one little Brahama? Yeah hes gootta get out a friend is waitng for him!!

Did you get just the one thats ok so far? What day is it for you? Any hope of more? Well 2 will be ok..they at least have one friend
Thanks.
