Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

OH GOOD!maybe she can now....
Your anxious to do it I know i was but TAKE YOUR TIME on her as they say the membrane veins have to dry up before they can come out and the yolk absorb so go real slow dont want t o kill her ..Shes ok as long she can breath and it can take a day to get out now better to take her out late than too early.!...GOOD LUCK on HER!

Looked over all the babies so far on thisthread......HOW CUTE!!!Dont know how you can see new chicks all the time and yet every one is so very adorable no matter how many you see.!!!

It is so nerve wracking on Day 20!!! Now there is 4 star cracks out of 11... Been in there 5 times in an hour...

Thats funny about the cochin made me laugh...
Good now he can breath...Hes safe. I think i would peel a little more shell away in a while if no progress see if he can do it then They say STOP if you see any blood. The learning center has a whole thing on doing it. if you havent looked at it before. You probably have
Well you know all this yourself you have been in with me in other hatches...
If that membrane cant loosen up you may have to peel off most of the shell in the end and let him just come out of the membrane if he can.My last assist that membrane was so dry by the time i got him out it was pulled away from the shell all over and looked like parchment He had been pipped for over 24 hours by the time he got out.I had to pull away most of the membrane too which iwasnt happy about but overnight in just the membrane, he STILL didnt get out!

So you have this one SLW and this one little Brahama? Yeah hes gootta get out a friend is waitng for him!!

Did you get just the one thats ok so far? What day is it for you? Any hope of more? Well 2 will be ok..they at least have one friend

Yeah, thank you. I'm going to hold off for a bit. My first hatch of Silkies, I assisted like 4 of them and it was as nerve wracking then as it is now. As long as she's chirping and face up, I'm going to leave her alone for now. I hope she makes more progress, but I think that after almost 72 hours of tapping and chirping, she's probably spent.

Right now, it's still just the little brahama. The SLW hasn't made any more progress yet, but he's got a huge hole in the shell so it won't be much longer I think.

Today is Day22.

I've got 3 other SLW eggs that haven't made any move to hatch yet [though they aren't due until tomorrow] and the one other long Eng Orp egg that I fear has died in there. There's no movement or chirping and I'm too much of a pansy to do a chick-cropsy to see what happened.

Gosh, I hope my other set of Eng Orps hatches much better!

This is the most scary hatch I've had so far.

OMG!

So, HOORAY!

I got brave and took my Orp out to crack some more shell for her and found that the reason she hasn't made any progress is because she was upside down! She is internally pipped and now she's externally pipped too and chirping up a storm in the bator!

I'm going to let her set and work [right side up this time] and if she hasn't made any progress in a couple hours, I'll start working at some more of the shell.

I didn't want to do too much at one time, I would prefer she hatch herself, but if it comes down to me helping/her dying, I'll help some more.

Oh, what a relief! I guess the brahma rolled her and I didn't notice it!

Next batch will all face up one way when we lock down!

I am so glad you were able to figure it out!

Blarneyeggs in your top  pics the dark spots on the yellow chicks are their splash spots? Never seen a splash baby before.LOVE THEM!!
As much as I enjoy the compliments...those Gorgeous Silkie Chicks belong to Waititout. Yes, that top pic appears to be a splash.

BTW...My dream is to hatch a Splash Orp... Someday!
