Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

Here they are...my 7 sins.

Envy ... Showgirl (only one with strips)

Lust ... Showgirl (Only silver)

Gluttony ... Showgirl (this is the one that came out with the bloated stomach. Yes she likes to sleep like that! She is just as active as the others, thankfully and doing just fine.)

Pride ... Showgirl ( Tallest chick)

Wrath,,, Showgirl ( she actually has little spiky feathers on her head)

Sloth ... Showgirl ( Always sleeping. Fits her perfectly)

Greed ... Silkie ( Greedy one has all the feathers.)
they are reall ycute little ones!

I hear the name showgirl what is that exactly?

Showgirls (SG) are Silkies with no feathers on their neck. Their head has a puff of feathers on it. They look like Las Vegas showgirls.

There are also bearded SG. They only have feathers on the front of their neck. Which is what I have.

But they are still Silkies.

Well my chick did not make it and things slowed down i have 2 zipping and a couple of pips one of the ones that zipping has been the same was since yesterday so i am worried about it. She has a gapping hole so she can breath so not sure why it's taking so long to finish hatching

What is your humidity at?

Could have sticky chick.

wow, I missed a lot. The chick smash but roxanne and the naked necks...and the sad one who broke it's yolk sac.

I am routing for the rest of you... are they any left to hatch? I know chicky has the one who is playing peekaboo but not coming out.

I have 3 going into lockdown monday. I also have a broody. So I might let her hatch these 3 eggs. she Just went broody 3 days ago... so I think I am cheating her out of her sitting time. Hope she doesn't figure it out..

there's two kinds of "sticky".. one is a dry type.. where the chick isn't really gooey but can stick a little to the membrane.. usually upping the humidity at hatch will correct it.. I've only encountered it in bators with a fan where the chicks takes their good ol sweet time hatching and gets a teeny bit of the membrane stuck to them from the fan drying them out... if they lay there for too long they can get stuck more.. but usually a quick spritz with a spray bottle of warm water or a q-tip moistened with water and applied to the "sticky" bit will release it

a "wet sticky" chick is one where the humidity was too high during incubation and there is a lot of the amber liquid in the shell.. a lot of times those chicks would drown in the goo.. but sometimes they manage to break the shell and the goo begins to harden on them like a bug in amber.. they can be saved if you catch them in time and give them a bath in warm water (holding them under a running faucet works well for most) while gently rubbing the goo off. upping the humidity at hatch may or may not help (there are a lot of differing opinions on this).. however I believe that if the humidity is kept under control during incubation you won't have to worry about very wet gooey chicks.. personally I never found upping the humidity to help in these types of sticky chicks.. since the fan in a bator seems to thicken the amber goo regardless of the humidity (years ago I had to help a neighbor with gooey chicks .. even upping the humidity to 90% at hatch did nothing to help them.. the only thing that saved them was a warm bath)

I have one of these right now! Should I try to help it out of the shell? I have 9 babies that have hatched with no problem, this one is out far enough that I can see the entire head and part of a wing. I thought it had died but it's still breathing.
