Who's Setting Eggs This Week[end]? [August 8-14]

Congratulations to all of you who have chicks hatching at the moment, Woohoo!!

It's all so exciting!

Lockdown next Tuesday for me so should hatch on Friday, hopefully. Can't wait!

Somehow lost this thread and just found it again..
...I have eggs that will lock next WEd. I have only 12 in and found the humidity stays way better if there are more than this .like 25.I have it dropping often and have the plug in too Hope it didnt harm them going to 22 once!!.GUHG

These should be some nice Light orps show quality if i get them to hatch. They are for someone else but i was hoping to get one for me too..HAHA I random candled a few days ago and found 3 or 4 looked good.Hoping for 5.Maybe there are that many good in there didnt do them all.
So how is the Genesis working?ChickenPR? Didnt you just get one?

I am on day 12 and checked on them last night so far all are good and one looks iffy i think it's an early quitter but i am leaving it in till day 14 to make sure. Happy hatching everyone! I can't wait to see my silkie babies

Constant vigilance or they do crazy things? Too funny, like what?
My 2 yr old once took the keys to a Yukon (I could hardly hoist myself into it sat so high) locked himself in, started car, and LAUGHED at all attempts to get him to let us in! Same 2 yr old used to take gallons of milk, drag into living room and DUMP out on rug, feed every last hot dog in fridge to eager German Shepard.
At 20 mos old, used broom stick to get medicine off of back of counter, UNSCREWED child locked lid, and spent rest of day getting charcoal pumped into stomach at hospital. Ate Desitin too many times to remember, couldn't keep it in babybag.
At five, cut all hair off puppy, ummm many more stories, these are off the top of my head.
This is the ONE child out of four, he made me afraid to sleep.

OMG he is a busy one! I would be afraid to sleep too but one thing hes intelligent to be so busy and inventive.Should be someone special. when grown ..next Bil Gates?

While we are all waiting I thought I would share a story with you all. Years ago I purchased 12 guinea keets from our local feed store. One turned out to be a chicken who I named Chikeeta. She would sit on my shoulder, come when called and followed me everywhere. Not knowing much about chickens I thought that she needed a roo to lay eggs and never paid attention to how old she was,etc. I started noticing that every morning she would disappear into a pile of junk in the garage, thought she was after bugs. When I finally got around to giving the garage a total overhaul, low and behold I found our old cat carrier and inside were 72 eggs!! It seemed Chikeeta was a very busy lady. I felt bad about throwing them all out but had to do it. From then on Chikeeta's nesting box was checked everyday and on most days there would be a present for me.

WOW!!she was busy!!

well, I think my genesis is working great....So far I think I will have chicks hatch. I had my humidity drop to 30 a few times. But I was drying the bator out before I added more water. All the eggs that started are still growing. Usually I am down to 1 or 2 and then they don't hatch. This time I have 11.

Swindledana... are the little dolls in the pic BBS Orps? they are so SO pretty!!

I want more ofthem so bad had one little black guy hatch a few weeks ago.so sorry i didnt get more was so looking forward to the 3 colors.
BUt Here i sit with a bathroom full of brooders ..one more set to get in there next weekend where will it go?...your guess is as good as mine
.I have an old killer fat cat always hungry and a bunch of dogs would love to eat little chicks so its the only safe haven in my house. .In fact i was going to get more eggs right away ... am like any addict freaking out almost chewing my nails to get some, litterly going to ebay eggs section 3 times a day looking...but after incubating some kind since May? where would they go?Gotta wait a few weeks to get some out.....GOT TO!!!!..... GOT TO !!! ....EEEE

They are BBS cochins and black and blue marans and some cuckoo marans.

Well, I couldn't stand it. That poor little chickie was shrink wrapped in there, so I helped it out. We have liftoff! White Americauna baby resting, but active and chirping nicely otherwise. (Shot through the plastic)-

Woke up to 3 more chicks! Two brown Americaunas and one dark Brahma mix. Now my preemie isn't lonely in the brooder. I'll post pics soon. More pipping going on.
