Have you candled the eggs yet? Do a candle before they go into lock down and you will get an idea of what is going on inside. Any duds you should toss so that they don't explode and ruin the others.

thanks for the welcome. the speckled sussex has a story behind it (i posted it on the site about delivered at the wrong route). the mail delivered them 20 miles down the road (4 eggs busted, the rest drenched.... and the P.O. defends their delivery system). anyway, i'm hoping i get some to hatch. been having hatching problems (maybe because of the summer / fall weather.

i'd REALLY like to have some mille fleur duccle eggs to hatch. i think those are so pretty. i've got silver sebrights, sussex (silver and speckled) and some various bantams. i also have Valley quail, gambel quail, and mexican spotted bobwhites.

I'm with you...love the look of the D'Uccle. Specially the gold neck. Unfortunately, I can't find any.

I like Rosecomb too. Those big white cheeks are so cute.

I have read alot of threads where people had silkie eggs hatch a few days early is this a normal thing?

Hmmm...I have silkies hatching for the first time also. I'd be interested if this is true as well.


Be nice if they hatch before Issac gets here.

Could it have started to develop before you set it? I am pretty sure that is what happened with 2 of mine from the last hatch. They pipped and hatched on Day 16 and 17. The temperature's outside here in Florida have been in the 90's and the humidity has been up there too.

Lol! At least everyone else that is dreaming is getting some sleep. I find myself laying in bed at night thinking about what I would get if I crossed this rooster with that hen, ect. Between that, my 10 month old and my 2 year old, I don't get any sleep any more.

that tends to happen.
I am trying to work out a few of these in my head as well.

Hubby just left to the post office to get the LAST box of eggs I am ordering.. This is it I tell ya! I am done!!! lol... So they are super blue layers from DMRippy...<--not sure if that was spelled right. But I been wanting to try these forever... he he he. I will set them tonight.

My hatch has finished. 14 out of 44. 3 RIR, 4 Jersey giants, 3 EE, 3 Bantam cochins and 1 standard cochin. My jersey giants hatched from eggs the size of serema eggs. These were my pullets first eggs. The one I am holding is a bantam cochin.
