Who's setting with me Sept 1st-4th?

I've had blood rings a couple of times before, those just happen, but the infertile eggs would be quite the disappiontment, did they guarantee fertility? Because then you should definately get at least a partial refund, sellers need to be checking that sort of stuff before they sell hatching eggs. I don't want to complain to my seller because she seems really nice, like she really cared about these eggs even though it wasn't a smart idea to ship them over Labor day weekend. If the remaining 4 manage to develope, I'll be happy, but with the whole labor day thing, I'm not so sure they will and $40 is a lot for absolutely nothing. Crossing my fingers for your remaining 3 eggs!

No guarantee for fertility. Blood rings are from bacteria getting in the eggs. With such a high rate at once, there's something going on. With all those infertile eggs, what a bummer. I do hope those three will hatch. I would be happy with partial money back. I might have to chalk it up to a loss.

I'll start over in the spring. I just got scammed on eBay my last hatch. I hatched 5 out of 6, but they were all mix breeds. Luckily eBay fully refunded me. I gave those to a friend. Then I hatched 9 of 12 and they are in my brooder. I'm looking for birds that my 2 of 3 children to show in 4-H. I think buying straight from the breeders list will give me better luck. I was hoping to hatch this fall since we are fencing in our property next spring(3.5 of 4 acres) for our chickens and that is not cheap. We may have to do it in sections.

Yes, we are in MN.:D It's finally cooling down, which is nice. The kids have horseback lessons on Fridays(today).

These were not cheap eggs either. I will buy strictly from the breeders list from now on. It will be much cheaper going that route then to be scammed online. So frustrating. This is not my fault either. I only had the eggs in since the 1st of September.
I hope the three I have actually hatch.
just cause they apear to be infertile dosent mean they are if they were shipped the eggs can get rock around and everything to cause the eggs to not hatch i have goten 0 out of 32 eggs before with shipped eggs u have to understand that soon as they leave his hands there isnt much he can do know dont know if urs were shipped or not?

I thought the same thing at first and typed it out, but deleted it because I looked at the first picture again. It doesn't have the "bull's eye" It's just a small white dot which means the egg is infertile. A fertile developes some inside the hen before it's laid. Once it's laid, developement stops unless conditions are right, but because of that initial developement, a "bull's eye" type spot is evident on the yolk of a fertile egg.

So sorry to hear about all the "bad" eggs (to sum it up). I hope those that looked good hatch out fine!

I'm starting to wonder if my inexperienced egg candling has fooled me with my eggs(?) I can see veins in almost all of them, some fainter that others but definitely veins. the darker brown eggs are tough to see the veins, but the yolk is darker.... If I have bad eggs when will they start to smell? None of them smell thus far :) I just don't want any exploding eggs in the incubator, I found one of those under the bedding in the coop one time and thankfully made it to the woods without it exploding everywhere.

Yes, the ones you have to worry about will smell a couple of days before they actually explode, the smell fills the whole incubator so it's fairly obvious. Also if you candle these eggs, they usually appear as a complete dark consistent color.

I had a smelly egg the last time. The egg smelled the entire incubator. Bleh!

Here what was inside

ok cool, I'm keeping a look out on the incubator for any smell

Nicole01: wow that is cool and gross all at the same time! It looks like the egg started but then quit (or maybe was a deformed baby that quit due to deformity?) what stage do you think it quit at? Very interesting learning experience there!

Not sure of the stage, but it was getting close to exploding. I took the egg out a day after I noticed the smell. I had heard about exploding eggs that day and I did not want a mess. It had a very bad smell even inside the shell.
