Who's setting with me Sept 1st-4th?

I installed a computer fan into my incubator. First time using a fan in an incubator. hope it works out for me. I'm on day 3. I'm getting really excited to find out if any of them are actually viable. i'm trying hard to hold out til about day 7 to 10 before checking them. Not knowing really sucks. I don't want to crack some open to check. i did that in the past and all that i'd checked that way were fertile and then only one other one was :(

The eggs I have are unknown type, brown eggs and white. I hope they hatch! i would love to see what breeds they are.

I've checked at 3-4 days before. My first hatch I checked almost everyday. That was with a broody when she got off the nest. The broody ate a few of her pipping chicks, so I had to take the remaining chicks and only hatched 3 with a heating pad. That's when I decided to buy my incubator. I had a very high hatch rate even with a staggered hatch last week. :)

I think I'm in trouble now! I'm on my 3rd set in one month.LOL. I'm really aiming for chickens we can show. One set I was scammed and sold mixed breeds.>:•\ I was refunded fully by eBay after proving my case.

This is it hopefully until spring if I need a new set. ;). I don't have any room to keep hatching.

I just went out to check for eggs, since my girls think its fun to lay their eggs where my rescued Great Pyrenees can eat them and the goats can stomp on them by accident, and found this huge egg(that had to hurt haha) and I'm guessing it is a double yoke.... Should I just put it in the fridge to eat or pop it in the incubator? My eggs were set on the 1st so it will be a later hatch (will that hurt them?) and I know double yokes don't tend to hatch... Just thought "what the heck, why not" but then again i don't know... What do y'all think? Attempt to hatch or eat? I've caught the fever, the incubating fever haha

I just did a very successful hatch with 2 hatch dates 5 days apart. It was my very first attempt in an incubator also.

I'd like to jump in. My eggs are arriving tomorrow, so I'll be setting them tomorrow night. I'm kinda nervous since these will be my first shipped eggs and they sat at the pst office all day yesterday and today because of Labor day weekend, but I pray they hatch because I love the birds they came from and it was $40 for a dozen. I'm hatching Silver Laced Cochins by the way. I also have the Hova Bator model 1602N without turners or fan. I'm also trying the dry incubation method. Suposedly you can get better hatch rates, and mine haven't so good as of late. It went from 95% to more like 50 - 60%. I will be comparing air cells sizes as it goes. I relly hope this all works out, and I hope all of you guys have amazng hatches as well!

Good luck with your hatch! I bought hatching eggs online too! They should be fine as they last 10 days or more before you can set them in the incubator.

Silver laced Cochins are beautiful!

I know they are fine as age, what I'm worried about is where they will be sitting for sunday and monday. Will they be out in a trailer at 90 degrees? Will they be inside by a vent with very low humidty? Thats what I'm worried about. What are you hatching?

I hope your eggs are inside. I never thought about them being outside. The seller should of waited until tomorrow to send fresh eggs. It's hot here too.:(

I'm hatching another batch of pure Ameraucana's. Blues and blacks. I need a couple of hens. The kids want to show chickens and I picked the breed.;)

Here's a couple I hatched 6 days ago today. This photo was taken when a day old. They already have wing feathers.

Good luck with your hatch! I'm sure all will be ok. I know the question was for Nicole01 but I set 12 brown/green/dark brown eggs from my hens and my 2 mutt roos.

I went ahead a set my possible double yoker. we'll see what comes of it :)
