Who's setting with me Sept 1st-4th?

on day 4 i candled my eggs and only 1 had anything forming in it. day 8 I candled and 4 have obvious veins. Typically I wont candle til day 10 for the first time. This time i'm to excited and curious to leave the eggs alone.
Hopefully you'll have better luck with yours than i've had with mine so far. :)

I usually start candling on day 3, and candle about 2 eggs everyday after just to watch them develope. I don't usually candle every egg until days 10 and 18, in which case I take out the bad ones. But I'm only going to wait until day 7 this time. And I have a lot less than I usually hatch, I usually hatch about 35 eggs at a time, but this time it's just my shipped eggs and the 3 of mine which makes 15, so it's much quicker to take a peek at all of them if I wish.

OK, I just candled them. Her eggs are almost white so I can see into them perfectly. 8 look the same as when I reiceved them, they are to the point where I would be confident throwing them out, but I will wait anyways, 2 are developing blood rings (quiters), and 2 are developing normally. Out of curiousity, should I complain? I don't want to sound rude at all, and I realize it's a gamble so I keep telling myself I can't complain, but she shipped them over a holiday weekend and I only got 2 of hers developing. I'll crack the eggs that aren't developing and check for fertility on day 7, I'm pretty disappointed with the 2, for all I know they may not hatch. If I were to complain, I wouldn't demand anything, I would simply tell her my situation and mention that I'm a bit disappointed in 2 developing embryos for the $40 I payed. What do you guys think? Should I let it go, or mention something to her?

Don't give up hope, do the other veins still look full? Did you see any movement? I have seen something similar in the past, but it was nothing and the embyros continued to develope. They could be blood rings, but lets hope not.

What day are they on?

All my blood rings were at the bottom near the air sac. Not sure if it means anything, but if I saw full veining, I wouldn't worry too much.

i candled my eggs today and am sad. :( it looks as if all the ones with some veins in them have dark blood rings at the top
yes dont give up i have thought i have had blood rings also before but they devoloped sometimes the veins go into a complete circle around the egg and look like bloodrings but are not guess they like to keep us on our toes

That's awesome, sager:)silkies!!

I have three bators going:

It's day 8 for my shipped Silkie eggs, I am going to try and wait til Wed before I candle them again. (bet I don't make it that long, lol)

Day 15 for my EEs.

And Day 18 for some EE/OEs a friend wanted me to hatch out. I have kept an extra bator running for hatching, just added water, gonna get the humidity up before I swap the eggs over for lockdown.

Sweetlilbaby:

I agree with the others, don't give up on those eggs. I have had lots hatch from eggs with veining like that, it can be misleading. As long as you see the veins "branching out" they are fine. It's only after the "branched out" veins completely collapse that you know the chick "quit". Good luck, and hang in there!!

day 10 check up. Looks like I'm out of this game now. 5 had blood rings, the rest had nothing at all. :( Sucks. $10 for what? dog food. *sigh* I'm off to look for chicks.

I'm so sorry.:(. I paid over $30 for 3 viable eggs out of 12. I know how you feel.

I had 5 blood rings and 4 infertile.
