I'm 5.5 hours into day 18 and I already have a pip, My FIRST PIP EVER!!!! YAY, I'm so excited, there is no way I'm sleeping tonight, or the next few nights for that matter..... Bring on the coffee!!!!

It's funny, when I saw the Pip, I was really sad, I thought I must have cracked it when I was taking it out of the turner, but then I realized, the shell is cracking outward, not inward, it's a PIP!!!! I justn didn't expect that at day 18!!!

Okay, I have 14 babies peeping in their box in the other room as I type. That's out of 25 eggs so the other 11 are still sitting quietly in the bator. So far, I've been trying to keep the humidity up and all but I really feel like it's pointless and am anxious to get the mess cleaned out of the bator. Today starts day 23.

The 14th chick came out yesterday (end of Day 21) and I actually helped him out a bit (the only one) because he didn't seem to be getting anywhere and I was so unsure of my humidity since my hygrometer went out the night of all the action. As I posted before, the humidity got so high when so many were hatching that it took the board out of the hygrometer. What do you all do when your humidity gets that high--just let it go? I'm talking 85% or higher. And does your hygrometer measure it beyond that?

Anyway, I am very thankful for the ones we have--they are positively adorable; only now I'm wondering what to do because I would like to keep hatching more but I can't keep keeping them...what does everyone else do when they keep hatching eggs--just keep adding to the flock? I have about 50 outside right now and of late, I can't sell my eggs.

Today starts the last three days for my three turkey eggs. I candled to check and all three appear a go. Actually got a neat look at one's little rear and the half absorbed yolk. Nice to know at least he's head up.

Today is day 22 and I have 1 pip. I heard it faintly chirping yesterday. I thought I heard a noise the day before. I heard crunching out of another one. I set 14 eggs and so far I have 1 alive. I guess that's not bad for a first try and I had problems with keeping the humidity. I can't wait to find out what it is. I have RIR, Wydonette, barred and a buff that are laying. Not sure which are which in the eggs becuase they all lay them in the same box. The buff gives me a cussing everytime I go to take the eggs and she is sitting. Boy she gets mad. I have to hold her back so she won't peck me. And the noise. I can still hear her yelling at me after I have left the coop. If it was warmer outside I would just let her sit on some.

I have had 4 out of 21 hatch so far and today is day 21. Only 1 pip in a Bantam egg and nothing from the rest. Hoping some are just planning on being late. If not, its not going to be a very good hatch.
