Who's Starting the 3-Day-Wait Today?

Well, just befroe I had to leave for work my 1 chick broke out and is doing well. I heard a few more peeps and they are getting more active. So I may have more than the 1. This is so exciting. This first one is yellow with some black. Must be a mix of my hen Buff and either the Barred or RIR rooster. not sure which at this point.

I'm on day 20 for some, day 19 for some, and day 18 for some.

I have two hatched chicks. A Buff Orp. / Brahma, and a EE/Buff Orp. *I think* haha.

I also have one pip. Hopefully tomorrow they will really get cracking. Literately

Oh and I have 4 chicks under a broody that have hatched. Three EE/ Buff Orps. And a Brahma. Hopefully more to come soon.

Home from work and had another chick with another working on it. I have 3 batches in the bator with a total of 14 eggs. I got 1 from the first batch and 1.5 from the second one. I hear a crackling sound from another one.

Yay!!!Glad you guys have pips... Go chickies. Updates MUST have pics... am I UNDERSTOOD? Because I am all but sitting on three turkey eggs that are just lying there looking like... eggs. Just a big ball of nothing.

And I had a THING with my broody turkey and had to relieve her silly self of some eggs and now my bator which already had hatching turkeys, and 16 other eggs had to hold four MORE eggs. Poor little thing I really never meant to do more than a dozen at a time in it. Instead it looks like a college competition to stuff a telephone booth.

One egg under Mildred I found with a cracked spot in it, about the size of an eraser. It may be why Mildred was being uncooperative about the nest. I brought it in candled it, thought it was a gonner but in emergency medicine you're not dead til you're warm and dead, so waxed it and warmed it up with the others. Today I candled it figuring time in the heat would have created gasses if it were dead and bacteria'd gotten in it. Low and behold when I candled him today, there he was moving up a storm. He just might make it.

Be nice if he survives as well as the other three - she wasn't turning them they've obviously developed heavily toward one side. I'm going to at least try. First time broodies suck.

Hope all your hatches go well, I'll use your pictures to keep me happy until something happens here.

I have bad news, one of my chiks didn't make it out of the egg. It died. I was so sad. I checked the 4 that where suppose to hatch friday and 3 of them died about mid way and the other wasn't fertile. I have 3 chicks out of 14 eggs. I still have 5 eggs that are suppose to hatch today but I don't think they will make it. No noise at all. But that is okay. This was my first time and I learned alot. I'm looking for a 50% hatch next time. I'll send pics as soon as I can.

Congrats to all those that are getting and have gotten new babies.

I took the remaining 11 eggs out of the bator yesterday: 2 weren't fertile; 1 looked like it had a tiny mass in it (embryo probably?); the other 8 had fully developed chicks in them. 2 out of those 8 had pipped and zipped maybe 2 inches of their shell and then died. The others didn't even pip. I wonder if the humidity got too high when the others were hatching?
