I have 2 babies out and like 4 more pipped , I broke the top of one cleaning out wet soggy cartons but the baby is still cheeping so I hope he will be ok. Today is day 21.

If I hadn't gotten my chick wet it would have died with the shell stuck to him. He was so pitiful struggling to get free. It seemd to be thankful when it was set free. I almost threw it out them I heard a very faint peep so I put all the eggs back and decided to wait it out a few more days. I have gotten 5 chicks out of 14 eggs. Only 2 wheren't fertile. They are all brown eggs so I couldn't tell what I had. All I could see was either nothing or darkness. So I decided to just leave them all and see what happens.

I had alot of trouble keeping the humidity up. Mine where suppose to hatch with in 3 days. 5-1, 4-2, 5-3. I got 2-1, 1-2 and 2-4. I had to take the first 3 out becaue they where trampling the 4th one that had hatched during the night. I think they had a party last night because it was peeping all night.

I will try to get pictures of them all as soon as the last 2 get good and dry.

I will be starting a new set by this weekend. I want to get the bator all cleaned up and temp and humidity set first. I want this one to have a better hatch rate. I would like to get up to about 50 hens. I plan to mave enough laying eggs so I can sell them and have enough for us. The ones I sell will need to be enough to pay for the feed at least. Right now it isn't enough to make it worth our while to even have them. It costs less for eggs than what we pay for feed. It would be nice to be able to put some back for improvements to the coop.
