Whose (detached) leg is this??

I was making dinner a few minutes ago and my son ran up holding a leg - not attached to any bird! I quickly counted our chickens: 11, whew!

It's the size of a chicken leg (I think - I've got big large fowl breeds), pinkish with black nails, and grey feathers with an orangish tip. What the...?

Did a local raptor drop a neighbor's chicken's leg in our driveway between the house and barn? Did a local raptor lose it's leg? Or a wild turkey? I'm flummoxed.

I am not familiar with turkeys, but it sure doesn't look like a chicken leg to me.

We live on a 10 acre farm that backs up to a 2600 acre farm/property. Rural life.

Not near as creepy as if he would have seen a HUMAN leg laying loose in the yard dropped by a dog! count your blessing, such has happened before, and likely will again unfortunately....

That is disturbing, weather its human or bird. I'd guess turkey. Like they said above, id have your naighbors count their animals.
