Why am I surrounded by people who have to be...

Ya know, My inner Linda always wants to be right and to have the last word. Sometimes she is and does....

But I found something ever so much more satisfying to do to one of those Always Right People: at some point in the exchange, stop, pause to think, then say, "You're right.".

If that person STILL pushes it, as if you were being sarcastic (which I usually am, but it's important not to sound like it), I actually put hand up, nicely, not in your face like, saying, "No, you are right. Thank you."

Inside, my Little Linda is wearing top hat and tails, holding a cane and doing a little soft shoe tap dance. Out side, I am calm.

This tends to make the Right Person feel like an A S S. Which is the intended result.

My work is done.

Mwaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaahhaaaaa!

Oh you're funny gryeyes/Linda! I do the same thing with my husband. "ok, you're right....yup you're right....you're absolutely right." Sometimes if I'm lucky, he'll realize I was right all along and ask me why I didn't keep arguing. I just tell him "cuz it's more important to you to make everyone else think you're right than it is for me." He really hates it! Ha-ha!

I'm holding back because of the overall restrained tone of my 'are some sense of humors just too macabre' thread.

If they'd a really cut loose, I'd have some practical suggestions.

LOL.

If it's any consolation at all, the human cold viruses have probably started more arguments than any other germ in the history of the earth.

In general, health subjects of any type nearly always draw some very strong opinions.

Second only to diet...exercise...disciplining children...health foods....feminism....modern art....sports heroes....how to train a dog.....

And if it's any more consolation, a friend of mine went to a seminar about archaeology, and said that two of the extremely elderly participants almost killed each other (in slow motion, I imagine), over some side bar they were having during the snack break.

It's best not to argue unless you are right. If you're right and the other person doesn't see it the same then you just have to agree to disagree.

As for the cold. If they go to school together it seems like they all get it at some point. Then they give it to you as a special present. Could you imagine being a germ a phobe and a teacher?

I heard on the radio that they did a study on grocery cart handles. They found that over 90% of grocery cart handles tested positive for fecal material. Just a fun fact.

Eeewww!

The first thing I do after I get back from town is wash my hands. This makes me want to start disinfecting my front door knobs right after that, too.
