I almost wonder if you could take her to small claims court over this. She advertised them as true ameraucanas but they clearly aren't

Terrible person is an understatement really. I gave her the benefit of a doubt and didn't say anything rude. But I did ask for the breeder/farm information she got her birds from. I am shopping for new birds again, maybe just a couple, and wanted to make sure I didn't accidentally buy from who she did. Thinking that if she truly thought those were Ameraucana's and that's what they were advertised as as chicks, I didn't want to accidentally buy from the same breeder. She didn't respond so a wk later I sent a ? , this was her response:
I will be okayvery nice thought though.
Silver lining is that this whole fiasco spurred me to continue looking for my breeders and I have actually found a master breeder and a line of birds that I absolutely adore and should be getting a few of them in the fall. If I can figure out a way to get birds from Alabama to TN without it costing an arm and leg, I could actually get some from her line from another breeder that is working with her birds now but I'm not sure I want to drive that farwe will see. Maybe I will take the trip? 6hrs round trip....
The dreams postponed but not given up![]()
This is great! Definitely had me laughing with this oneThere are despicable people in this world. I was trying to think of something witty to say, like maybe, "You can always eat those birds", and it occurred to me that it would be better to eat the seller.
Whatever, those people will get theirs in the afterlife.
I am definitely considering it. I will probably end of doing it. Going through video footage tonight and tomorrow to see which grow outs I want to get from her. I wanted to get birds from Once in a Blue Moon, Lindsay Helton because I absolutely adore the type/look she breeds for, but she won't be hatching till the spring. Although I could wait till the fall and get a few grow outs from her then, but I believe those would be grow outs from another breeder she bought chicks from recently. The other breeder is really good to though. The lady in Alabama though started her flock with Lindsays birds so they definitely have a similar look about them. I don't even need blues for my project and am considering getting one from her because they are just so darn adorableThat’s not that far! I say do it! Maybe it’s just not far to me in New England where we used to drive to NH, VT, Maine, etc. all the time which was anywhere from 2-3 hours to like 5+ hours LOL we also used to drive to western PA ALL the time when I was a kid cause we have family out there and that’s 9-10 hours. So 3 hours one way is nothing to mebut I understand it’s a lot for some people. But I say it’s worth it.
Even if I could, no way would I actually do that. One or just isn't my style and two I would lose money in the end, AGAIN. I think the worst part of all this is the fact that she is a pretty successful breeder in this area. She been in a magazine locally here and breeds dogs, cats, and several other pedigree types. She also is advertising everywhere, in all the places I do as well. It's infuriating that someone with so little integrity and morals could be so successful and be so rude. I'm still floored but her statement to me.I almost wonder if you could take her to small claims court over this. She advertised them as true ameraucanas but they clearly aren't
I would say maybe you were right IF she hadn't told me to kick rocks when I asked for the breeders name. If it were the case that she genuinely didn't know, (which is doubtful because she was charging top dollar for those mongrelsI'm sorry for your disappointment.
And NOT to side with the lady you got them from, but from my own experience, I had to teach my friend about Americana and Ameraucana and the differences. She honestly thought they were all the same and that she had hit the jackpot on them from TSC. It honestly took a few conversations to get it through.
We have a local Amercucana breeder close by and can get chicks(blue wheaten) but we are full up on Easter eggers right now.
It's almost soul crushing when something doesn't go how you wanted. ((I got EE hatching eggs and got 3 roos and 1 hen died)) Sending prayers and hugs(or air hugs)
I have a bad taste left in my mouth after ordering from Meyers Earlier this year. Bought 47 chicks 16+ died within 5 days. It's was terrible. So the thought of doing that again definitely has me gun-shy. And I really don't like the idea of spending 100+ on hatching eggs only to have them scrambled by the post office and all that money wasted. Just doesn't seem like a fun or safe bet to meMy gosh she's a terrible person. I would say do what you think is best for your situation in regards to getting new chicks. Have you considered buying chicks online? I know it is definitely not for everyone and there is risk and more money involved. However there are more reputable companies with guarantees. We got a Blue Ameraucana from Meyer Hatchery a few years back and she looks pretty "authentic" to my untrained eye. Not trying to endorse Meyer in particular but just throwing out some options so you don't have to drive so far. Whatever you decide, go for it and best of luck!
I think you should make the drive! LOLThis is great! Definitely had me laughing with this oneShe is quite despicable

I would say maybe you were right IF she hadn't told me to kick rocks when I asked for the breeders name. If it were the case that she genuinely didn't know, (which is doubtful because she was charging top dollar for those mongrelsbecause she claimed they were true) and had been had by the person she purchased from she would of been more then happy to give me their name and would have been as upset as I was to learn they were imposters. She was none of those things and worst of all she was down right nasty to me for no reason. I didn't ask for a refund, I didn't even tell her how preposterous it was that she called those two birds true Ameraucana's ( honestly I didn't know what to say to that first response!)
I genuinely contacted her to ask if in her lines or was coming for her juvenile birds to appear to have lost their muffs and beards, which I had heard was something that does happen but they grow back into them later. She proceeded to tell me that they definitely were Ameraucana's. Anyways, I just can't wrap my head around the entire scenario. I would never be able to sleep again if I knew I had sold someone something that wasn't what I said it was. I care so much about the quality of bird I provide and my families name, there in no way I could do someone the way she just did. Never ever ever! I know shit happens, which is why I asked if it was possible for them to be mixed. I wouldn't have even been mad had she made it right. I know I would of the show were in the other foot. I once sold a bird that had been sold to me as a Rhode island red. So when I sold those hens I listed them as that. Months later I learned about the whole commercial red, true RIRs, and hybrid reds like cinnamon queens etc. I had to sift through endless text messages to find the people o sold those hens to to let them know the birds they purchased from me were actually not Rhode island reds at all, explain the situation, and that more then likely they had cinnamon queens or some versions of a red sexlink. It is things that that exact scenario though that make me not be able to understand this woman's actions. I just simply do not run my business that way. Honor, integrity, and strong principles are valuable to me and the most important character traits one can possess. I contacted those buyers bc I needed to be able to sleep at night knowing I had done the right thing when I found out, I even offered them a partial refund. They didn't take it but that is not the point. Worst of all she is a pretty well established and successful breeder locally and her morals are highly questionable. I don't like the fact that she advertises and frequents the same online groups as me. That's the other part that doesn't make sense, I would never publicly out her online- as you can see I made it a point to black out her name and profile icon when I posted screenshots of our conversations - but it's as though she literally doesn't care if someone did. Why would she respond that way if she did care about her online reputation. I know a lot of people that would of went into those groups with screenshots and humiliated her online. Again not me, but if be lying if I said she didn't totally deserve it

Just doesn't seem like a fun or safe bet to meI am seriously considering driving to Alabama. If not I will wait for Once in a blue moon to pick their keeps and purchase from the group they decided not to keep. Or wait til the spring. Maybe by then things will be easier (not struggling so hard) and I can get chicks from her actual line then too. Bc the fall birds are another breeders chicks. The Alabama birds are bred into other lines too but they definitely still resemble the original lines birds enough for me to have recognized it before she told me that who she started from. Maybe I get the AL birds, then Some in the fall, and by spring get a few more chicks too. Not entirely sure just yet and hoping and praying sales And Homestead related stuff picks up and life gets a little easier. A girl can dream right

Definitely leave a review, just in general. Might not mean much to you (I know a lot of times it feels like a chore to me, especially if there's a minimum word count required), but it really is helpful. I read the reviews for almost everything I buy, and especially for eggs and birds because I've been burned before and want to avoid it again.I think you might be missing something when it comes to whether to leave a bad review. Reviews are not for the sake of the seller or the disappointed buyer.
Reviews are for potential future customers.
Think about them, the future customers, when you write it, if you're concerned about anyone going through what you went through. You don't have to convey your feelings about the seller, just the simple facts.
Normally, someone who's running a business disreputably will be relying on a scattered market rather than repeat customers. So they probably belong to a lot of different poultry groups and local livestock groups.
I agree. I don't always leave a review for normal or mediocre goods and services. But, I almost always leave a review for good, very good, or great goods and services. And, always for poor or worse. I suppose that is the reason I was invited to participate in Amazon's Vine review program.I think you might be missing something when it comes to whether to leave a bad review.
