Why Are Adult Turkeys So Expensive???

I'm have a 4 month old RP and a 4 month old BR jake for sale right now for $45 each. I KNOW I have more than that in feed and care (time, shavings, labor) in each of them. If I really needed to sell I would drop the price $5 or $10. I can't imagine a full grown year old turkey would cost less than $50-$75 to feed and care for that long unless it was completely free range, then you would want to figure in your flock losses to predators.

Every location there is supply and demand shorter the supply the better the price you are able to get.
I think I would not take any less than $50 for each of my full grown Red Bourbons do to the the cost of the Poults and the feed it took to get them full grown.

I think I will take a few to the Farmers market next spring in my area and see how that goes.
I tried Craig's List and that didn't work out its no big deal if I don't get what I want for them I will have plenty of turkey for me and my family to eat.........and may be Christmas Gifts Ho Ho Ho nothing says lovin like something from the farm.

It all depends on the area supply and demand. Last month I sold 2 toms and 5 hen royal palms for $125/ea. I'm starting poults at $20/ea this year because the demand is so huge and people are still willing to pay that.
