Why Are EE really not Considered a Breed to Show ??

Cackle's EEs are not production bred Ameraucanas. They don't fit the APA color standards for Ameraucanas, they don't lay only blue eggs which is required of Ameraucanas, and they don't have the slate blue legs of true Ameraucanas. Cackle's EEs all look so similar because they have been inbreeding the same EE stock for so long. It's alway the reason your not getting any beige or pink eggs. They really need an infusion of more new birds, including some true Ameraucanas and chocolate egg layers into their stock.

I figured it was because of the generations of inbreeding.

I really wasn't trying to compare or say that EE and Ameraucanas were the same thing, I know they're not. I was just saying that all the EE looked similar amongst themselves and wasn't sure if they were poorly bred Ameraucanas or inbred mutts. It was said earlier that they do not breed true but considering that the parents, the offspring, and their offspring all look that same, to me that is breeding true. Now if an outcross was introduced that would change things.

Cackle's EEs only superficially resemble each other. A close examination of their individual feather patterns and colors will reveal loads of differences. You can see their breeder flock at
. Then of course on top of that, there is the difference in egg shades.

This is very true. I wasn't really thinking in terms of egg color and feather pattern. Those too would have to be consistent each generation, in addition to type, to be considered breeding true correct?

Yes. Those things are very carefully spelled out in the poultry governing bodies such as the APA.
