Hi can anyone tell me why my chickens are not laying?.
One is brown leghorn at about 25 weeks I think
One is an isa brown whom I don’t know the age of.
also is a picture of the egg laying box I got from them. In Australia it is winter but not too cold.

About when will that be? Because i personally think that they dont consider the egg laying box as secure enough, maybe because there is a small hole ( about 15 cm squared) which is open to anything. IDK maybe.

They are probably just not ready yet. If they didn’t find the box secure enough then you would be finding nests of eggs. If it is very hot where you are that might also be a factor. Having the temperature going down could also be a cause. Chickens don’t lay as many eggs during temperature extremes.

16-25 weeks or more. They will lay when ready despite nesting box status. Kind of like how you’d find a place to “go” even if the next rest stop is 180 mile away.

is it possible they are 1.5 years old and thus not laying in winter (typically 4-6 month olds will lay their first winter but older birds can take off, some as long as November to early March in USA!

or do they free range? They may be laying eggs somewhere else.

How long have you had these birds?
They certainly look like they are laying(very red combs and wattles).
If you free range they may be laying out in range area somewhere.
Time for an exam:

Then maybe:
Free range birds sometimes need to be 'trained'(or re-trained) to lay in the coop nests, especially new layers. Leaving them locked in the coop for a week or so can help 'home' them to lay in the coop nests. Fake eggs/golf balls in the nests can help 'show' them were to lay. They can be confined to coop and maybe run 24/7 for a few days to a week, provided you have adequate space and ventilation, or confine them at least until mid to late afternoon. You help them create a new habit and they will usually stick with it. ..at least for a good while, then repeat as necessary.
