Why are People So Paranoid?

Yea he is. :). That is my Poseidon. My cousin did that to the poor muppet at easter lol! He wore those silly things for a good thirty minutes before they fell off his noggin.

I had IWs for 20 years. Sight hounds are my favorite breeds but we now have a PBGV. She's a love and was the closest thing we could find to a wolfhound heart in a smaller package. Please give Poseidon a hug from me.

He is my first. After my old lady left away from here i told hubby i needed me a huge baby that would be gentle, make people think twice bout comin near me when hubby wasn't near, an easy pup and a service dog for me. si is PERFECT! And i am sure he won't be my last. I think next time we will get a grey boy. But it will be a long while after he leaves me i think before i can do it. He is such the love and helper to me it will be crazy hard. He is five and a half now.

Hey have you ever worked at a fast food place. It was one of my first jobs when I was a teen don't get me started on the things I have seen the staff do. Disgusting does not even begin to tell the tail.

Ooooh yea! I've done A LOT of time in fast food, sit down restaurants, delis, bars & even chocolate/candy stores.... After being behind the scenes all those years I now eat at home 99.9% of the time. I do still frequent the candy store, but only certain ones, & never during the holidays when they have temporary/seasonal empolyees.

Well folks, I guess its time for me to eat a little crow... :he We have a system... Extra feed goes in the part of the barn with dirt floor and feed for the brooder goes on the side with concrete floor. Both in air tight/water tight containers. I also tend to rely on the younger members of this crew to haul the sacks...

This morning, we left early, as the co-op closes at noon, to pickup feed. Got everything on my list, got home and started storing it. Noticed the can in the brooder was empty, went to get another bag from the other side. Imagine my surprise, when I found that barrel empty...

I order my feed as a custom blend by the ton. It stores well in air tight containers. That said, Co-op was closed and birds were hungry... So off the TSC I go... Best I was able to do is an organic grower @18%, so I got that, plus alfalfa pellets (organic of course) and went home to figure out how to get a good feed mix. I ended up mixing in roasted unsalted peanuts, flax seed ground into meal, fish meal, and ground alfalfa.

In the end I ended up with a 22.2% protein feed with all the right nutrients. I'm still going to give the ducks some smashed boiled eggs to amp up the protein a bit more--but there is no way I could have figured this out a year ago. What a great forum this is.:celebrate

After years of raising what we consume (chicken/eggs/pork/beef) it is hard to enjoy supermarket meats.
When we throw cook outs for friends or family, their are hardly leftovers.
Bacon cooked fresh without sodium nitrate, dipped in egg wash and deep fried... Is the nectar of the Gods.
Preservatives, steroids and growth hormones.. Yuck!
You are what you eat, from your head to your feet.
As far a salmonella is concerned, cleanliness is next to Godliness..

After I moved to the swamp, my kids started getting sick... I knew it was the food, so I started traveling up to PA to visit the Amish and bye clean food. All allergies and other issues went away. Clean food is the way to go... Better if you grow it yourself. I hope to be providing all our protein within a couple of years.

I eat farm eggs all the time. Cookie dough too. .so are you actually SUPPOSED to wash eggs for eating or not? I've heard different opinions on this. I know the whole thing about washing in warmer water than the egg. Same thing is recommended for most fruits and vegetables. I'm guilty of eating unwashed eggs from chickens butts. . did I just dodge the bullet? Lol
I wash right before cracking and only if they are gross. Otherwise, forget it. Germs are good for you. Lol.
