Why are People So Paranoid?

ooh, don't get me started on feeding little people. What I can't understand is how people can hand a completely dependent person some rubbish 'food'. When they are little is when you completely control their nutrition. When I see a baby slurping a sugary soft drink I just think "why?" - why would you give that to a baby?
It's also when you form their later eating habits. "ooh, little johnny will only eat coco pops". well, little johnny would eat everything, if you'd been giving it to him and not being ridiculous.

ooh, cranky pants time

My mother-in-law was mixing cake batter and I got all excited and ran over to the bowl and beaters. She gave me this look and said, "This has eggs in it."
"I don't care! Dibs!" Soooo good! I'm a grown woman, she was laughing her butt off at me.
My friend loves cake batter and one of her friends said "no way I am not eating that I might get sick" they persuaded her to try some. You can guess what happened. She was taken to the hospital for salmonella poisoning the next day.

Cannot stand what what fear mongers come up next... I was raised on what we did on our farm... raw milk taking sitting in the garden pulling peas or beans eating them right there pulling carrots wiping the dirt off with my hand eating them... James was a sicker kid till I brought them out here feeding good solid food from the garden and chickens

Once I was in my garden happily wiping carrots off on my pants when I remembered something about where I was wiping them. I had just brushed chicken poop off of that spot. Anyway, I never got sick so that's good!

My grand kids love all manner of veg. And will try anything that we are eating. When we took the little one out to the garden for the first time, she was in heaven. But I think her favorite remains the cherry or plumb tomatoes or maybe the cucumbers.

Yepp!!! I remember eating radishes as I was picking them out of my parents garden and my mom would yell out that I should at least rinse em with the hose first :lau

God made dirt....:wee
I truly believe kids who eat dirt are the healthiest of the crowd... My daughter's kids were in the back yard doing what kids do, the neighbor came by and I thought she was going to have a coronary. Her: "The kids are eating dirt" Daughter: "that's what kids do" Her: "No you can't do that!!!" That said, I have to confess when my daughter had her first, she was kind of like the commercial... Disinfect everything all the time--but she got past it by #2.... ;)

I've traveled the world over and always eaten local. My last sick day at work was in 1979. I did get the crud in Saudi, but everyone does and works through it for about a week and then you're good. Food poisoning, fast food joints a couple of times. But as was pointed out, not real food.

I didn't get the Krud in Saudi, but I got it in Kyrgyzstan. We called it the Kyrgy-Krud. Didn't help that I found out later I was pregnant either.
