Why are People So Paranoid?

I eat farm eggs all the time. Cookie dough too. .so are you actually SUPPOSED to wash eggs for eating or not? I've heard different opinions on this. I know the whole thing about washing in warmer water than the egg. Same thing is recommended for most fruits and vegetables. I'm guilty of eating unwashed eggs from chickens butts. . did I just dodge the bullet? Lol

Dunno. I'll wash dirty ones if I'm selling them but that's it.

My neighbour used to wash dirty eggs with water from the dog bowl... We all survived. It's just the shell anyway.

We are surrounded by farms lady! I have cattle and horses two blocks away from me that's pretty rural.

You don't need to be rural to own horses or cattle. Plenty of people in town own horses here.

....Also, you're using 'blocks' as a measurement. 'Nuff said.

I almost never wash my chicken eggs. And I keep them in the pantry. My duck eggs, well that's an entirely different story. If I can convince the girls to lay in the clean fresh straw, all well and good--but I don't have a high success rate so I generally find them in mud an poo. If I wash an egg, it goes straight into the fridge after. What really surprised me is my neighbor stopped by the other day and was looking for eggs. We had a basket full of muddy eggs. She didn't wig out or go crazy, simply asked how we wash them and then confirmed they have to go into the fridge after washing. She was thrilled to have hour old eggs.
