Why are People So Paranoid?

Peanuts are pretty close to Whole Roasted soy across the board. Didn't have soy but had peanuts. ;) Going to pickup 12 pounds or so of Soy this week. Whole lasts longer than meal or cracked.
It's incredibly interesting what people have available in their areas and how it can be used. I find it fascinating and I've learned a lot from BYC in that regard. We grow soybeans...but of course, they aren't heated. I utilize the cereal crops only in that respect.

Hey have you ever worked at a fast food place. It was one of my first jobs when I was a teen don't get me started on the things I have seen the staff do. Disgusting does not even begin to tell the tail.
I worked at a Coke bottling plant one summer, I got this really nasty bug from working there, It was in the 80's to 90's on the plant floor, fans going everywhere, and water spraying everywhere, so I would be warm and damp, then the only place to take breaks was the break room, which was kept at around 60 degrees... so I caught a bug from going from warm and wet to cold and wet back and forth every night (plus my system adjusting to the night shift). Anyway, the bottles come off of a pallet and go down a conveyer before being filled or capped, one night they put me up there where I was having to handle the bottles and stand over them while they went down the conveyer... I was coughing, blowing my nose, snot dripping... it was gross... and I was up there with the open containers... I looked out for those lot codes for a while when purchasing soda... I didn't want my bug back!

wow @Kusanar does not sound like a real healthy environment to work in
It wasn't BAD, but, I get cold when the sun goes down no matter how hot it is, so I was cold and huddling near something that produced heat the whole time I was on the floor, and then 30 minutes of COLD and back to the warm area... It wouldn't have been bad if there was somewhere warm to take your breaks other than outside (not under roof) which you couldn't use if it was wet out.

Another thing i have seen people paranoid about is eating animals that dont eat just plants. (More in the hunting community) and even others for some reason they think all the animals we eat are just feed plants. My uncle worked in a chicken barn (said it was awful there) but says you will never think of factory farmed raised chicken the same after you see what they eat. Same with pigs heard they eat rats and mice in the barns. But like everything just cook it well and done.

:lau :sick

I don't think you needed to have worried. Coke can strip a toilet of stains, I don't think a measly old germ would have much hope of surviving it.

Agreed, not to mention battery corrosion in your cars engine, or blood stains on asphalt ... That's some serious stuff!
True, and the trench it had eaten in the concrete floor of the plant where we dumped the faulty bottles. (cocked caps, no caps, fell in the floor, etc)

I was outside at lunch at work and a friend of mine was asking if my chicken had laid her egg yet (we're waiting for our first). One of his friends was basically admonishing me about being careful about salmonella, that you can get it from just touching a chicken. When I explained that we wash our hands after we do anything with the girls or the coop, she was still so disapproving. Like I was exposing my children to something that would kill them if they looked crosswise at it.
I tried to explain that it wasn't as bad as all that, that you had to be careful, yes, but its not that bad so long as you are. She was like, "I've read the stories."

What stories?

Why are people so paranoid about this all of a sudden?
The problem with the world today, is this
many people look for the "bad" in situations rather than seeking the "good"... watch any news report and you friend will get my meaning! As for myself, I look for, search for, admonish and even pray that good tidings befall all humanity, and chickens too! had to add that! one more thing friend, the world would be worse if you were not here to care as you do! I care too, too much maybe. It's just nice to know I'm not alone in this journey through life. Keep it up friend as will I!
