"Why are you looking at me like that..."

I explained to my DH today that I did not bring home the chicks from the store because I would be wanting to have any new chicks that I hatch in the incubator (delivery tomorrow!!!) in the brooder in the house. He agreed that this was sensible - good thinking......and a moment later, out of the corner of my eye I saw a mildly puzzled look come over him.

So much for the "no birds in the house" rule?

DH went to check the shower as soon as he made it in the door from work tonight. I heard him make a snickering sound, the cabinet door opening and closing, then he came back out. I had to go look since I had moved the pullet back out today. The dog AND cat were curled up in the bathtub and he had taken a big towel and laid over them like a blanket. Same man who didn't understand a chicken in the shower

My dh is going to build me a proper broody pen that will be fiixed so it can have a heat lamp on top and still be enclosed so the chickies stay warm enough even though they are outside. (it doesn't get THAT cold here) its his way of getting me to NOT kkeep them in the basement. Whatevs...I can keep hatching chicks and not hear hiim complain about them in the basement. Win win, I saay.

Sounds like a conversation we'd have at my house, though thankfully they have become less frequent lately. Nowadays DH just looks at the chickens sitting on the couch with me watching tv and shakes his head. He's at a loss for words.
