Why are YOU on BYC forums?

I like it here because it's an active forum. Any hour of the day or night you can find something new to read about, or discuss with others. I've learned a LOT here, and appreciate every single piece of advice or article or thread. Thanks to the nice people here, I've branched out into owning peacocks, which are absolutely wonderful.

Earlier this month, we had our first ever La. Chicken Expo, so some of us BYCers got to meet in person, which was fantastic! & hopefully the trend will continue as we start to work on our fall Expo.

I'm not a big Facebook fan & I've seen participation decrease considerably in other, smaller forums I belong to (gardening, dogs, etc) so it's nice to see BYC holding its' own.

I like BYC because it is really kept clean and pure compared to other bulletin boards. I don't have to cringe my way through people's posts. I am such a purity loving soul.

Also, it is fun to share knowledge with others. It is a great place to be a good Samaritan.

I have found LOTS of knowledge here, too. I feel totally comfortable with my chickens as a result. When one of my chickens had bumblefoot, I knew enough to make the judgement call not to operate. Sure enough, it healed on it's own- but I was prepared to operate. I dare say that I would be a good chicken vet to my own chickens, mostly thanks to BYC.

I have seen wonderful kindness and love given to people here posting about their problems. And it is especially wonderful to hear about and see the blessed ones in the Armed Forces on here. (My dad was Navy and I am grateful that we still have a country thanks to the Armed Forces.)

There's another thing I want to add...On many forums I am a bit apprehensive about starting a thread or posting on a topic without carefully going over it 10+ times. Because on other forums people will just tear you apart if you don't see eye to eye. The net can make people very hateful because they aren't seen or held responsible for their words. They don't understand that there is a person on the otherside of the monitor and words can in some cases be deadly.

I'm thankful to have a place where I can feel open to post without supreme critisism.

Is there really any other place to go???? The people are amazing, the moderators are very attentive, clean forum, knowledge, kindness, and finally found some people who don't think I am crazy for adoring my babies...

What more can anyone ask for?

Other than chicken stuff...I come here for support and friends. I don't get out much.......
