Why aren't my girls laying yet?

I've had two barred plymouth rocks and four lakenvelders for 9 months. They share a coop with a 2 year old silkie roo. I've gotten some eggs in the few months they've been on egg layer but it was mostly by one hen and she's stopped laying completely. Their hen boxes were built with perches, which make me wonder if that's why they aren't laying. Any advice or tips? Thanks!

If they are otherwise healthy....

Add light. When the days are short they will lay less or not at all. Best bet is to add light on a timer until you can supplement the light to around 14 total or so hours.
