Now that's what I'd call ENTERTAINMENT!

I lost my faith in wing clipping after I had to go and retrieve a hen that had flown over a 6 or 7 foot fence even though she had a wing clipped. She was a sussex hybrid . . .

haha! i've had the same thing happen to me, but they didn't quite reach the road ( i would let them out to free range a bit), and my REALLY great neighbor would drive by & see my chickens in MY yard & call me to let me know that the chickens got out. That happened about 4 times before i explained to them that if they're in the yard its ok. but please call me if they're roaming down the road!! haha.

I'm very lucky to have the neighbors i do.

Rob, Thanks. The picture made me smile for a while... I could imagine my girls getting out and strolling down the street like that... My street looks very much like yours and i could just imagine the neighborhood kids running up to the door letting me know they were out... Good luck on the fencing. I ended up building a 10x27 covered run and only let them out of that when i'm home. So far i have not had any escape the yard yet....

As far as the techniques they use for getting out da fence... folks need to make a list for all those "they're just dumb chickens" people to read! They dig, they tunnel, they climb... they FIGURE!

I got a tickle out of that Mr. Dad! And yes I agree, it is funny to see them in that type of a setting. They look like what people do in suburbia...you know, cruise down the street, get something to eat, visit the neighbors, etc...

Very pretty flock tho'! And you're lucky to have such nice neighbors!
