I'm in a large city in southern California; we have possums, raccoons, skunks, coyotes, red tailed hawks.... I saw a falcon fly into my backyard with a pigeon in its talons. Believe me, we get them all!

In defense of city folk, I don't know ANYONE that would mistake a possum for a cat. Now, they might think it is a giant RAT! Rats can get pretty big in the city!
