Why did my hen attack me? I’m bleeding

This is my first flock and I had no idea chickens could be this dangerous. It’s kind of discouraging for me. I didn’t expect it to be this hard.

Oh please don't get discouraged! This is a fluke not the norm. Most hens aren't like that.

I would just give it away or cull it, to be honest. I wouldn't risk injury, especially if you have kids

I would not give it away, it might hurt somebody else's kid. I would not pass this problem on to someone else. Period.

Good point. Then you should probably cull it. As @DLA said, it will make a delicious soup. Win-win. A good dinner and the possibility of getting an eyeball pecked out will also be eliminated. Unless you give it to someone who is an expert on aggressive chicken behavior.
