Why did some do great and others have unabsorbed yolk sacks?

Okay - here's the rundown & the pics you asked for

. We now have 15 chicks; the 15th just hatched (a few hours behind the others).
1 hatched on the 20th
6 on the 21st
8 on the 22nd
3 more to go? I have 3 eggs left (out of 18) - 1 egg has a pip on the wrong end (probably won't make it), the 2nd has a small pip (still waiting to see if it'll hatch), the 3rd is unknown (can't see a pip from my window, but it was knocked around a bit by the chicks).

My incubator - I separated the eggs at lockdown - purebred ameraucanas on the right - ameraucana mixes & EEs on the left - the fan is in back right corner;

My eggs came from Mahonri and from the two hens I bought from him (they were still laying fertile eggs - I don't have any roosters):
These are pics of one of the blue wheatons with one of the wheaton ameraucanas (first two to hatch):

The dark ones come from my dark blue ameraucana hen and a blue wheaton roo and the spotted chick from my splash hen and the same blue wheaton roo (EEs now, but I sure am anxious to see what they end up looking like)

Oh, I love them! Thanks for taking the time and sharing the pictures! How come they are EE's now? Is it because they aren't an accepted color?

And, that was very good thinking on creating the seperating barrier for the chicks, good job! I hope you post more pics as they grow.

Yes, that's correct. They may not be an accepted color and will no longer breed true, although... if I end up with a black or blue pullet (from my blue ameracuana), I think I'll still her an 'ameraucana', since she has pure ameraucana parents and is an accepted color. As long as I don't breed her (which I can't - no roosters), it would never affect anyone else and she should still have all the other ameraucana traits (body shape, leg color, etc.) Other than the possibility of the black/blue, the rest will not have have accepted colors and will be deemed EEs (or non-standard ameraucanas?)
