So I have a young serama hen and these are her first eggs that she has laid. She laid two eggs on the ground of the coop and then in a roosting box. That and she is not laying on them.... is this normal behavior for first eggs? Or why would she lay in two different spots? I am assuming we may not have baby chicks since she is not laying on them keeping them warm.... thanks in advance.

She doesn't quite know what's going on yet, try putting fake eggs in the nesting box.
She won't go broody until her hormones tell her to do it, there's nothing you can do to start it.
It's usual best not to incubate the first few months eggs since they can be weird and undersized. Do you have a rooster?
Yes.. we have a serama roosters ter and hen… her eggs are small anyway bc she’s a bantam. We also have had fake eggs in the coop… but not sure how much she’s been in the brooder boxes until now when she laid one egg in there this morning.

Yes, but the new layer eggs are smaller than normal. she feels the need to lay but she doesn't quite understand what to do about yet. She'll get it.

So is it normal for her to lay eggs in completely different areas of the coop?
My hens have different spots they like to lay. I have one that lays in a cow feeder and another that lays on top of an old chest of drawers in the barn. Last week with the cold weather the chickens stayed in the barn, including the roosters. I haven't had a hen lay in the nesting boxes since then. Right now they are all laying on the ground behind a pallet. Thankfully they are all laying there so gathering eggs is easy enough.
