MomtoSyd&Emma :

I ADORE this breed, if I could only have one breed this would be IT!!

Totally agree...
My BO is a total lap chicken and would move into the house with us if she could. She is a big ball of loving fluff. She lets my 2 year old carry her about too unlike the others who run in terror when they see DD.

She's also my broody and is a fab mom.

I had some eggs in the incubator a few weeks ago so I threw in one of Buffy's eggs and on Tuesday the cutest chick I've ever seen hatched out (black australorp dad explains the 2 black stripes on her back and the 'eyeliner' effect), she is also the softest and friendliest and

and already seems to be following in her mom's footsteps in wanting to be a broody herself. Since we're sharing photos in our celebration of the BO:

i should've quoted this to let you all know, that was NOT me that wrote that message (all in caps). although i DO love chickens, my son is always teasing me, saying i WORSHIP them! lol.....still, i'm gonna kill the kid!

i guess i should get on his facebook and post something huh?

seriously though, i've been thinking long and hard about whether to keep Nutmeg or my Winifred. it's gonna break my heart to give up Nutmeg, but my heart would be broken giving up Winifred too. i really wish i could keep 5.....but space just does not allow it. i would be being selfish to the girls if i did that. the "extras" get to go live in the country and free range....so they WILL be happy. i just have to try to remember that. i decided to keep Winifred cuz then i'd STILL have 2 EE (i love that breed) and why not experience 3 different breeds if i can only have 4 chickens? (Marans, BO, and EE) i better stop loving on Nutmeg now, just to make things easier for me. all the pics of BO look so SWEET!!! Buffy (and her chick) look adorable!!!!

Sooooooooooooooooooo easy to fall head over heals and be overrun. I can already see next spring our flock will be growing by leaps and bounds

Out of our 14 3 week olds, the BO's are the only ones that consistently come to me when I put my hands in their kiddie pool. So far they are the ones that will happily sit on my lap for a chest rub, and fall asleep there. I love them.

We have one too that is more 'tame' than the others. We named ours 'Buffy' ...so original, I know.

As a chick she would sit at our feet just waiting for us to pick her up.
