Why do commercial hatcheries only sell EEs instead of true Ameraucana?

I have always wondered why most hatcheries sell EE's as Ameraucanas while they are not.

Also, why they don't just sell true Ameraucanas?

It's confusing, does anyone have an answer?

As I undrestand it, fertility is a problem in rumpless chickens with the poor fertility it would be hard to do it economically.
There are pure araucanas for sale on eggbid. Bidding for 25 starts at around $120.
Too much for me to pay just because they are pure.

the subject here is AMERAUCANAS not ARAUCANAS, big difference.
And there is also a significant difference between Ameraucanas and EE's, one's an actual breed the other a mutt, respectively. So, no they are not the same.

Maybe it's because people still buy them anyway?

When I went to the counter at the hatchery near where I live, I asked for "Two Ameraucauna's or Easter Eggers or whatever they're called" She started to write down "ameraucauna" on the order sheet, then quickly crossed it out and wrote "Araucauna" and she said "Gotta write that or they'll yell at me" (jokingly.)

I am a complete newbie at chickens and with my limited knowledge I knew they weren't Araucauna's, but at the time I DID think they were Ameraucauna's. After reading a lot of posts on here and seeing the Ameraucauna websites, I am slowly being awakened to what all of the fuss is about.

From my understanding, it would be like the hatchery selling "Plymouth Rocks" but letting all of the different color varieties (Barred, Partridge, Columbian, White, Buff,etc..) all interbreed and mixed up. I think a lot of people would have a problem with that!

I still love my easter eggers, but it irritates me that they are falsely representing the breed and misleading people.

They do because they get away with it. They have done it so long that
most people think that Ameraucana are suppose to be like that.

I believe there is more than just mixing colors with the EEs. Where does the yellow skin/green legs, barred feathers and green/brown eggs come from?

one's an actual breed the other a mutt, respectively.

That is sometimes true, but not always. Of course the mutts are EEs, but some are the actual breed as well. According to the Ameraucana people if you take two Ameraucanas of different colors, the result is not an Ameraucana, but an EE. So, it would be the actual breed, but because it doesn't meet "standard," you can't call it Ameraucana.

Many people who breed true Ameraucanas would call a cross between two different colors "non standard Amer's" insted of EE's. An EE is just a mix of different breeds, while a non standard Ameraucana is still an Ameraucana, just not a standard color. If you mixed a buff cochin with a blue cochin, the chicks would still be cochins, just not a standard color.
