Why do my BR poults look so different?

its a poult, the beak gives it away. snood bumps can hide early on i find. I would say somethings wrong with goofy, just a matter of figureing out what. he is standing rigid, neck tucked, and looks a bit frumpy... cheeks are a bit sunken too. Might be as simple as hes off to a rough start, best way to fix that is to eliminate competition (separate him with 1 friend of same age or younger if possible). put him on booster water (a bunch of different brands, its just vitamin/electrolyte water), turkey crumble starter, spend some time showing /making him drink the fortified water and play with his food. It seams instinctive that they want to steal what ever someone else does, so he'll eventually steal the food from your finger tips, and lots of warmth! put that light low until they dont want to stand directly under it (then raise it just a wee bit), could be that hes gotten a draft or something. Its always a process of elimination with these gusy!
Good luck

(I think goofy is a great name! names should be based off of something, not just random. I have a hen named snoodless for self explanatory reasons hehe)

yeah they are all turkey- I hatched both myself, but for both of them, none of the other eggs hatched unfortunately so they are only children so far! Goofy here is all alone in a box brooder, and eating/drinking very well so far, even found some poo on top of the fount so that means he got up there and pooed on it:) I really hope he will be ok, my daughter really likes him and like I said I havent had much luck being a turkey momma.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe you have a turchicken. If you can breed it with a duck then you could make a ton of money around thanksgiving!

OP, I had BR hatch this week. At 1-4 days old, my BR look exactly like yours in Photo2. I have the parents to my poults, and picked up the eggs myself from Madame Curies's nesting box. Could it be a strain difference??

I have a friend that raises turkeys, TONS of turkeys ( about 300 at a time ) and he has a poult every now and then that looks like the one that is "screwed up" lol. They always grow out of it, when they are young they have a weird posture, sometimes they even walk weird. He said he associates it with the way they were positioned in the egg and they grow out of it. I have seen them when they were really young and they look like they are leaning back or something but by 4 months they are strutting around just like the rest of them.

Give it some time to grow out of it, if not they all look the same in the deep fryer
