Why do my Cornish Cross that were Pasture Raised on Fermented Feed have so much fat

Just butchered 11 yesterday. They have more fat than the ones we buy at the grocery store. Any ideas why?

They were 8 weeks and two days old. They had a chicken tractor to sleep in but were enclosed in an electric fence on our yard.

Thank you!

How much fat and where, in the body, was the fat located? It might be helpful if you were to post a photo of the processed birds so we can see what you are seeing.
What type of feed did you ferment? How much were they fed? What was the size of the area they were pastured in and how much did they move around it during their time in that area? Did you encourage/force movement by moving feed/water stations?

There are so many factors at play, that without more information, no answers can be given.

Does fermented feed go down easier and so much easier to digest that they over ate even though you tried to restrict them?

I find mine have less fat since I started fermenting.

But they still have some nice "healthy" fat deposits which I consider a good thing. I would not consider grocery store chickens to be a good standard.
