Hello!

I have 3 roosters, and 25 hens. 2 of the roosters are slightly more aggressive when it comes to breeding, where the other one couldnt care less.
About 6 of my hens don't have Amy feathers on their backs because for whatever reason the roosters mostly only go after these hens.
Is there a reason for this? I have so many hens (beautiful ones I must add)
And the roosters almost never got after the majority of them.

Why do roosters pick favorites?
Is there anything I can do to get my poor girls back feathers to grow back other than seperating them? I have no where to put them so that is not an option.

some roosters just have their favorite hens. there is no way to stop it unless you seperate the roosters

Same thing here. 4 to 5 of the girls have bare back patches and are the favorite of the roosters. I believe that they make saddles that you can strap on hens made of leather or cloth. I personally have never tried them but that would seem your only option other than separating the roos from the hens.

Well that sucks, is there anything I can do to try and help get their feathers back? I have no way to desperate the roosters, and there is no way I'm getting rid of them.

I've also noticed that the rooster's favorites are often the ones on the lowest part of the pecking order, and are therefore, more submissive to his... advances? I also have a few with bald patches. I separated the roosters, but since you can't do that, if you're handy, you can easily find a free plan for chicken saddles, Once you put these on the hens, and keep them on long enough, the feathers will grow back underneath. Plus, you can make them look pretty cute!

Okay, I will have to look them up. I have never heard of hen saddles, and am not even sure if I'll be able yo catch any of the hens, its worth a try though!
