Why do people have to be so mean?

LOL yes of course my dear, that doesn't go for the lucky well adjusted homes with responsible mothers which I applaud, just the bitter man haters who they believe made this mess to start with, I don't mean to take away from the OP's delimma just shedding some light in another direction.

She definitely has a mental problem, logic and words are going to do no good. A good 6foot wood fence is your best bet on family security..and.. Don't eat any food offered by her.

If someone was to call atleast the house would get cleaned up. A messy house is not a cluttered house like that, fire hazards and nasty bugs/mice live in clutter that's buit up. My neighbor is bad with her kids, drug addict.....

I'll pay closer attention the next couple of days. Maybe if I'm in my yard I can try to see if I see any clutter inside the back door. I really wish I had the money for a wooden privacy fence. I don't even have a car right now to go pick up scraps. I would definitely stick out like a sore thumb if I did get a fence because absolutely no one in town has any fencing, with the exception of the family across the street that put up a small area of chain link for their dogs. That's it. No one else has any fencing. I live in a VERY small town, only 50 people or so, and maybe just over a dozen or so houses. And a church. That's it, that's the whole town. However, if we decide we want to stay here, then when I graduate (I'm in college), and I get a good, solid job, then a privacy fence is high at the top of my list of repairs to make. In the meantime, we're planting 48 Rose of Sharon bushes. A whole line of them are going between her property and ours. Hoping they grow REALLY fast!
I already planted a whole bunch of other trees and bushes to block out other nasty neighbors, but haven't yet put up anything between her property and ours. There's been too much rain lately. And now the whole family is sick. So it has to wait another few days.

But I planted Blue Spruce to block out the wicked witch that lives across the street, and last year I planted a Hibiscus to block the view of the jerk across the street that harassed us all last summer and then poisoned my dog. But I planted more fruit trees this year. We're kind of trying to encase the property in trees for some privacy. And when the fruit trees get big, I'll plant some lilac under them, or maybe some more Rose of Sharon!

The lady next door is a single mother. So am I, but I am NOTHING like her! From what I heard he walked on her when the boy was just a baby. Occasionally a tractor will go by and the man driving it will beep and wave, and my kids asked the little boy who that was, and he said it was his dad, but the man never stops at the house. Ever. Matter of fact, no one ever stops over there. However she did have pest control over there the other day. I was dying to go up and ask the guy what he was spraying for, in case her cooties came scampering over to my house! Eeeeek, I'll freak if she has roaches!!!!!! But most likely, because of our area, he was either spraying for termites (unlikely since she has a cement block house) or mice, but seeing as how she has all those cats, I wouldn't think that mice would be a really big problem for her. Some came in my house over the Winter, but my cats took care of them. I know there's at least one still running around, but then again my cats caught one day before yesterday, so that might have been it. There'll always be more, I know. But I didn't think I had the right to ask the guy, so I bit my tongue and watched from a distance, all the while worrying about her cooties. He didn't go in the house, he only sprayed outside, so I dunno. But I'll make a more active effort to listen and see if I notice anything unusual, or see if I can see the clutter that I've only heard is there. I can imagine though, if her animals look as bad as they do, I can only imagine what the inside of the house looks like.

One of my best friends in high school had a mom who was a hoarder. My friend got a fake driver's license when she was 16 so that she could get an apartment. She rarely talked about what was going on but I knew that it was really bad.

Oh well that's just... scary.

I'd definitely be giving her a piece of my mind... and being my smartasstic self she'd probably find anonymous gifts at her door... copies of Psycho, Throw Mama From The Train, Serial Mom, Only The Lonely, and maybe even Aliens... now there's a scary mom.

Keep an eye on that little guy. Clearly the woman is emotionally damaging him, but that is really hard to prove. But, if you notice any physical signs of abuse you should call it in. That poor kid.
