Why do people raise quail??

Here in the gulf coast and in southern Texas a big problem for Quail is the Fireants. Quail nest on the ground and small chicks cannot survive a fireant attack, nothing can. Fireants have been known to kill small beef calves. And guess what.......... the ants............they are moving north and east.

I'm surprised few people mentioned the benefits of quail over other fowls. They take up a lot less space than chicken, the males don't crow anywhere was loud, they are great converters of feed at 3:1 ratio, produce 250+ eggs a year, reach slaughter age at 5-6 weeks for normal varieties and their meat taste great. That is why I raise my quails, purely for the benefits over chooks.
