I really like the way you stated this. I totally respect folks who can't or don't want to do it themselves. It sure isn't my favorite thing to do in the world.

I just don't have any tolerance for self-righteousness and people who think their diet and way of procuring their food makes them better than other people.

I may not make my own clothes but I do sew an occasional button on here and there. Americans eat a lot of meat nowadays. I am thinking that the prepacking and cheap meat has led to this. A large part of it is probably that it is nicely packaged and has removed all remnants of a living being that it was. Have no fear though, scientists are working at te grafting meat techniques so that animals dont have to die to make meat.

I rather eat real meat then man made meat. There is fake meat around, but made of tofu. It has no taste and the main flavor come from seasoning.

Tell them you process your chickens and sold most of them to the super market and that they have most likely ate one of your chickens when they brought chicken last time.

While I actually like the tofu/TVP/veggie burgers, it is fake meat and not real animal protien. The lab grown meat being referred to is really tissue grown from muscle cells and is real meat, it just doesn't need to be attached to the cow or chicken! How marvelous!

I'm a vegetarian and really digging these developments.

Not that I mind you guys eating your own chickens - they live much better lives than the millions of factory farmed chickens out there, the poor things. I'd love the factory farms to be completely eliminated! Everyone should raise chickens with love, give them a real chickeny life with sunshine and fresh air and grass! Then when they die they will have actually lived first!

It's all a matter of why you raised them. People can be quite ignorant, can't they? It's ok. Don't listen. Do way you feel. You're so right. Now, I'm a softie vegeterian here LOL, but seriously. I don't at all get what that person said to you. IT'S A FREE CHICKEN COUNTRY!!
